Research not Answer for Doubts

25 May

Church News, 2 February 2019“President Oaks acknowledged that some Latter-Saint couples face conflicts over important values and priorities. Matters of Church history and doctrinal issues have led some spouses to inactivity. Some spouses wonder how to best go about researching and responding to such issues. “I suggest that research is not the answer,” he said.” — Dallin Oaks

John 5:39-43 “Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me. 40 And ye will not come to me, that ye might have life. 41 I receive not honour from men. 42 But I know you, that ye have not the love of God in you. 43 I am come in my Father’s name, and ye receive me not: if another shall come in his own name, him ye will receive.”

Two weeks before Mr. Oaks and his wife Kristen delivered the devotional in Chicago, LDS Apostle Rasband and wife Ruth, were keynote speakers of a devotional at the BYU Hawaii Campus. They too, warned young LDS members against doubting the Church. See post BYU Devotional Slams Doubters.

It seems the Church is going out of its way to remind people they shouldn’t question their leaders. Imagine the amount of money they’ve spent trying to herd in the thoughts and behaviors of adherents.

The devotional from January blamed some  unknown guy by the name of Stephen for having doubts, and now it’s the fault of the unnamed spouses who are doubting. It’s no coincidence their examples seem to be imaginary people they’ve used to take attention away from the fact they’re operating on a false foundation.

Why aren’t they taking this opportunity to broadcast to the world of this awesome God of the Bible who created us, and provided salvation?

Can you imagine the impact this would have on the world if they were promoting the truth?

Not only is this a shocking display of how they try to control people, my heart is broken for the Lord knowing someone is being deceived and led away from Him. The biblical passage above is a good example of what the Church has done. Please, don’t forget to pray for them!

With Love in Christ;

Michelle
