Recent Messages from LDS Prophets and Apostles

boyd-k-packerA few days ago I was on the Church’s website, and came across a quote at the end of a page made by one of the LDS apostles, Boyd K. Packer. The name of the page was ‘Recent Messages from LDS Prophets and Apostles”.

The standalone quote was very telling, and I’ve been praying it’ll give pause to members of the Church when they come across it. Today we’re looking at a couple of things within the context of what he said.

“Our message is unique. We declare to the world that the fulness of the gospel of Jesus Christ has been restored to the earth. We declare with boldness that the keys of the priesthood have been restored to man, with the power to seal on earth and in the heavens.” ~ President Boyd K. Packer (Retrieved 10/4/2015)

1.Actually, the message of Mormonism isn’t unique at all! We find warnings throughout the Bible telling us to beware of false teachers, so Mr. Packer’s statement is disingenuous at best.

The Israelites found themselves in trouble for engaging in the nefarious practices of other societies in which they lived. We see they got chewed out for listening to fortune tellers in Isaiah, condemned for worshiping golden calves at the foot of Mt. Sinai in Exodus, and they received a tongue lashing from Paul in Romans 1-2 for judging others who didn’t live up to the Law, when in fact, they were guilty of it as well.

Their lies are the same types of things we read about time and again. It’s just as the wise King Solomon pointed out in Ecclesiastes 1:9, ‘…there’s nothing new under the sun…’

Mr. Packer also said –

2.’…we declare with boldness…’ Boldness? Nervy, is more like it. The apostle Paul preached the gospel with boldness, but the Mormon Church has tried to render His word useless. By loudly proclaiming the gospel of Jesus was non-existent until ‘ol Joe came along isn’t being bold at all.

It’s wrong.

Furthermore, declaring that man has the keys of the priesthood once again, is fully rejecting what Jesus did on the cross!
