Polygamy Saves Eve’s Fair Daughters

12 December

Journal of Discourses 26:181 “Who is injured if my wife makes a sacrifice with me and takes into our home one of her sisters and makes her my wife. If she makes the sacrifice; if I shoulder the additional responsibility, and open the door that will save one of Eve’s fair daughters, who is wronged? Do I plot for the overthrow of the government, the breaking in pieces of the powers that be, because I desire that my sister or my daughter, my aunt or my cousin may be preserved from the evils thrown around them by the systems that man has created? No.” — John Henry Smith, Logan, Utah, April 6, 1885

Leviticus 18:1317- 18 “Thou shalt not uncover the nakedness of thy mother’s sister: for she is thy mother’s near kinswoman. 17 Thou shalt not uncover the nakedness of a woman and her daughter, neither shalt thou take her son’s daughter, or her daughter’s daughter, to uncover her nakedness; for they are her near kinswomen: it is wickedness. 18 Neither shalt thou take a wife to her sister, to vex her, to uncover her nakedness, beside the other in her life time.”

Oh dear. The words of this man were the exact opposite of what our Bibles tell us! John Henry Smith, grandson of John Smith (Joseph Smith’s uncle), was instrumental in all things Mormon as Utah joined the union. Not only was he well connected through his father, John Smith’s son, George Albert Smith, became the Church’s 8th prophet.

The defiant nature of members in early Mormonism were made even more so when they trekked west. They acted as if they had an invisible shield, buffering them from the world outside the Wasatch Front. They made their own rules while incorporating carefully selected bible verses to defend their ungodly, not to mention unwise, behavior. Today’s LDS reference shows how they either ignored, or outright defied God’s admonition.

This behavior is a picture of wholesale rebellion at its finest! The question he asked; ‘who is injured’, should be obvious. Those who’ve bought into the lies — which means little kids who believe incestual relationships are what God wants for you.

Shame on this man, and those who advocate his deplorable teachings! Sadly, there are many Mormons today who still don’t see anything wrong with this behavior.

Pray with us for them to open their hearts to Jesus who will reveal the truth to them!

With Love in Christ;

Michelle
