One Bible Verse Contradicts 75% of Book of Mormon 59 Times

28 March

Deuteronomy 17:19; “And it shall be with him, and he shall read therein all the days of his life: that he may learn to fear the LORD his God, to keep all the words of this law and these statutes, to do them”.

1 Nephi 5:17; “And now when my father saw all these things, he was filled with the Spirit, and began to prophesy concerning his seed—” – 592 BC

John 7:39-40; “(But this spake he of the Spirit, which they that believe on him should receive: for the Holy Ghost was not yet given; because that Jesus was not yet glorified.) 40 ¶ Many of the people therefore, when they heard this saying, said, Of a truth this is the Prophet.” – c. 32 AD

Our post today is a reminder of how mighty God’s word is! Hebrews 4:12.

As most people are aware, in 1830 Joseph Smith claimed to have translated the Book of Mormon which is a compilation of twenty books. It contains stories of a supposed unknown tribe of Israel who lived in the Americas from BC 600 – 421 AD. Today we’re looking at a few simple facts from those writings that screams false prophecy.

1 Verse

In just one verse from our Lord’s word we can plainly see how the Mormon gospel is false, based on what Jesus said.

John 7:39 “(But this spake he of the Spirit, which they that believe on him should receive: for the Holy Ghost was not yet given; because that Jesus was not yet glorified.)” [emp. mine]

75%

Sixteen of those twenty books repeatedly mentioned they had God’s Holy Spirit in the BC era, making 75% of its narrative a false prophecy.

59 Times

You can see in our Greek and Latin Words Chart how the terms Holy Ghost (44x), and Holy Spirit (15x), were used 59 times in the BC era.

Because of all that, we’re asking for Christians to share this info with the Mormon they know, and to be ever vigilant in praying for them. Thanks and God bless!

I don’t know about this Book of Mormon stuff,. But as a biblical Hebraist (I actually have a degree, not a hobbiest) and an academic biblical historian (with a degree), you really need to check your antecedents and historiographical context. I don’t care what religion you are, if you are going to bash on another one, your not much of a Christian. And if you are pretending to know your bible, get your facts before you look stupid. The argument you make here makes you look like an idiot.

Boyd, I don’t know about all this antecedent or historiographical stuff, but what about the argument she’s making here? You did not actually respond to it.

Also, what does Hebrew have to do with the book of mormon? I thought Joseph Smith got the text from looking at his magic stone in a hat. At least that is how all of the witnesses testified about how he got the text. Being that his scribes/witnesses didn’t know Hebrew, he must have given them English to write down. And it is written in King James English which is not how they spoke in circa 1800’s America. So it really is quite strange when you think about it.
