Answers: Straightforward Answers to Tough Gospel Questions, pp. 215 – 216; “There is an important point in all of this, Elder,” I said. “Never let anyone outside the Church tell you what the Church teaches. You were sent out to teach, not to be taught (see D&C 43:15). The doctrines of the Church will always come to you through the channels that the Lord ordained, and the Lord didn’t ordain anti-Mormon literature as one of those channels.” – Joseph Fielding McConkie
Romans 11:8; “(According as it is written, God hath given them the spirit of slumber, eyes that they should not see, and ears that they should not hear;) unto this day.”
John 5:39; “Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me.”
Oh dear. If my people would only open those Bibles they carry around with them!
My heart fears for the day they’ll have rejected God so long, He finally does what Paul tells us in Romans.
Joseph McConkie was the son of Bruce McConkie, so that apple obviously didn’t fall far from the tree.
I’ve had the unfortunate experience of sharing info that contradicts itself w/ Mormon missionaries, and asked for their opinion. Their answer? We’ll find out about that in heaven.
Regrettably, they most certainly will, and it’ll be too late. How can it be ‘anti-Mormon info’ when it comes from their own writings?
The Mormon people have bought into a most horrible lie. They’ve believed the leaders who told them anything coming from outside sources is ‘anti-Mormon’. To the Mormon, it doesn’t matter if it’s true, or not.
They’ve been groomed so well, their kneejerk reaction is the standard Mormon mantra, ‘follow the prophet’. Anything outside of that is unthinkable.
Pray for those who still believe this, and maybe the even the next Mormon missionary that knocks on your door.
With Love in Christ;
