Mormons Twist Bible to Justify Lying to Kids

20 May

Romans 16:18 For they that are such serve not our Lord Jesus Christ, but their own belly; and by good words and fair speeches deceive the hearts of the simple.

CES Devotional Broadcast, ‘What is Truth,’ January 2013; “…Because we see through a glass darkly, we have to trust the Lord, who sees all things clearly.” – Dieter Uchtdorf

1 Corinthians 13:12; ”For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.”

Mr. Uchtdorf’s comment came near the end of a belabored talk to a Mormon youth group. You can watch the video, or read the transcript in the link above. His speech focused on reminding kids not to believe everything they read from outsiders. In light of that, we have 2 questions!

1.If he’s so willing to use the Bible, what does he think of 1 Corinthians 13:6 telling us not to rejoice in iniquity? The Book of Moses has Adam and Eve rejoicing in their defiance of God.

Moses 5:11; “And Eve, his wife, heard all these things and was glad, saying: Were it not for our transgression we never should have had seed, and never should have known good and evil, and the joy of our redemption, and the eternal life which God giveth unto all the obedient.”

2.Would he be willing to trust God enough to tell those kids Joe Smith lied?

FYI: As of 2015, LDS Devotionals are held three times a year. Before that time they were held five to six times per year. For more info, see MormonHub.com. For a list of devotionals from 2001  onward see CES Devotionals.
