Mormons on the Internet Now Doubting the Church

22 July

Today the NY Times published an article on a high ranking member of the LDS Church from Sweden and the news wasn’t good for the Church.

Hans Mattsson told reporters from the Times that while serving as an area authority members would approach him with questions about polygamy or other subjects that bothered them and he always allayed their fears by assuring them the Church had an answer for that and the information they had was produced by “anti-Mormons”.

He said that when he couldn’t answer some difficult questions he asked Church authorities for answers. After sending a request for help and finding that they were side-stepping him he began investigating the Church for himself. It didn’t take long before he felt like “an earthquake” was beneath him.

He soon learned like the rest of us who’ve left that everything he ever knew in life was a lie. You can read the interview in full here

It’s going to be a long road of discoveries for Mr. Mattsson, but as we know, the Lord can and will hold him in His hands if allows Him to do so!  Come alongside us to pray for him and his wife in this new path.  Also pray for the Mormons who are part of his area as this news was more than likely shocking to them as well. While it may seem daunting when you’re going through this, the Lord is a very present help in times of need!

Psalm 46:1; “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.”

I left Mormonism about a year or two before the internet was invented so all the research I did came from LDS books I had purchased from Mormon bookstores or received from my very LDS family members. My serious questions began in ’88 and from then until the time I left (’93) my life was filled with raising my kids and comparing my LDS literature to the Bible.  Thankfully most of those books are now on the net making research a lot easier!

I don’t want to be misunderstood on this subject. While I’m thrilled someone’s eyes were opened to the truth, the pain in my heart for those who’ve been deceived is heavy. Our greatest hope here at Life After Ministries is that when people do leave the Church, they’ll come to know the real Jesus of the Bible and not shut God out of their lives!

If God can raise Jesus from the grave, part the Red Sea and perform the myriads of other miracles we’ve all read about in His word, He’s certainly powerful enough to save all the Mormons who leave.

Let’s pray that while the Church is telling its members to create blogs and be missionaries on the internet they’ll discover the truth about their Church!

With Love in Christ;

Michelle
