Mormons Defy God’s Temple Mandates

07 February

templeAs of late, the LDS Church is building temples at a record pace. According to their site they now have 155 operating temples, and 25 others in various stages of construction. Another page gives the reason why they build so many temples. Here in part, is what they said –

‘From the days of the Old Testament, the Lord has commanded His people to build temples-sacred structures where He could teach, guide, and bless them.’ See ‘Why We Build Temples’.

Right off the bat, Christians should see 5 major problems with these activities and statements from the Church.

1.In First Chronicles chapter twenty-eight we have the privilege of reading about events King David went through when it came time to build God’s temple. God put the plans of His temple into the head of King David with specific guidelines for him to follow. 1 Chronicles 28:12

The Church has no intention of following any temple plans God laid out for David, nor have they ever replicated anything in their temples as a reminder to believers of what God had mandated.

2.Everything they’ve done in the process of building these temples has been the exact opposite of what God commanded, not to mention a display of willful ambiguity on their part. From not preparing the materials outside the holy temple ground, to hiring the very people they consider the ‘whores of Babylon’, their temples stand as monuments of what not to do.

For an example of the latter, see San Diego Temple Symbols. We’re still wondering why they hired Catholic architects and construction companies to help them build their sacred buildings.

3.Technically, the Church shouldn’t be in the business of building temples because of what it says in 1st Chronicles. You can state the rules don’t apply to modern Mormons, but the rules definitely applied to the days of Smith!

1 Chronicles 28:3; “But God said unto me, Thou shalt not build an house for my name, because thou hast been a man of war, and hast shed blood.”

4.What is most important in this scenario is the fact that God already has temples here on earth. He resides inside each believer, and we are God’s holy temple!

1 Corinthians 3:16; “Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you?”

5.As noted above, the Church made a claim that’s an outright lie. They said, ‘From the days of the Old Testament, the Lord has commanded His people to build temples’. This isn’t a true biblical mandate from our Lord, and they know it’s not. Where in the Bible does it say these things?

One last thing…you’ll notice the Greek meaning of the word temple means a large public building.

Why is it the Mormons have closed people off from God’s presence if the temple is supposed to be public as God says?

We pray that as Mormons pony up their obligatory 10% to gain eternal salvation by going to the temple, they’d stop to think about what they’re doing each and every day by worshiping this god.
