Mormons Celebrate Their ‘Love’ for the Bible

20 November

Gospel Truth, p.324; “After the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints was organized, there were only two churches upon the earth. They were known respectively as the Church of the Lamb of God and Babylon. The various organizations which are called churches throughout Christiandom, though differing in their creeds and organizations, have one common origin. They belong to Babylon.” – George Q. Cannon

joseph_smiths_bibleAfter adjusting to the reality of what true Mormonism is really like, you’ll find each ex-Mormon will have his/her own list of discoveries that was the most shocking for them personally. I have my own ‘Top 10’, and as time goes on I can’t get over how outrageously blatant their lies are, especially about the Bible.

In the past few years the Church has decided they’d like to include themselves in the annual ‘International Day of the Bible’ celebrations. We pray the reason we’ve brought attention to the Church’s activities would be apparent to the body of Christ!

The Mormon Church’s shenanigans knows no bounds, and this year was no different. With their shallow, meaningless platitudes of adoration for the Bible, we took note of the following comment –

“This sacred record of scripture is full of the Lord’s commandments and love for His children,“ Elder D. Todd Christofferson posted during last year’s celebration. ”It is relevant to each one of us. People of faith who read and ponder biblical teachings in their lives form the moral underpinning of society. Its divinely inspired teachings will ultimately lead us to Christ and salvation.” [emp. mine]

Last year’s celebration? This church has no less than 603 paid top executives who run the ‘corporation’ with a fine toothed comb. 603! Why couldn’t they find anyone at all to write something relevant, not to mention current, about God’s word to mankind?

Furthermore, we just posted a few days ago on how the Church undermines God’s word, and exalts the Book of Mormon. See Orson Hyde’s comment below. This makes the words of Mr. Christofferson disingenuous.

Journal of Discourses 2:75-76; “The words contained in this Bible are merely a history of what is gone by; it was never given to guide the servant of God in the course he should pursue, any more than the words and commandments of God, given to a generation under one set of circumstances, would serve for another generation under another set of circumstances…The Bible is not a sufficient guide; it is only the history of the people who lived 1800 years ago. The history of our Church in this day, presents the scenes and transactions of this people—the revelations and words of God to them…” – Orson Hyde, Salt Lake City, October 6, 1854

This is a good example of what pains my heart. I never pictured myself as being someone who’d have to rat out my  heritage, nor do I take pleasure in knowing this is what they teach.

First and foremost, it pains me deeply for the Lord when I look at what they’ve done. What an absolute travesty this is! I’m afraid for the Mormon people, especially my own mother, and I’m sickened to the core they are so callous to our sweet Jesus who gave His life for us all. Pray for them, won’t you?

Their full article is listed below, and as you’ll see it’s rather shallow. Knowing what we do about the Church, it sounds patronizing as well. We’re wondering how a Mormon would know which verse in the Bible to trust since they’ve always been taught the Bible has been mistranslated. I’ve never met a Mormon who will arbitrarily pick up their Bible, and start looking through it to find comfort. I know that as a Mormon, I wouldn’t have known how to do such a thing.

The quote listed at the top of this article from Mr. Cannon, is a classic example of how Mormons feel about the word of God. You can imagine our surprise with their sudden outpouring of faux adoration of the Bible.
