Mormonism Will Progress or God Will Be Dethroned

06 August

Journal of Discourses 1:88-89 “…Brother [Ira] Ames has said that “‘Mormonism’ will progress.” If it does not, God will be dethroned, for when He undertakes to do anything, it will be done … “Mormonism” stands upon the eternal basis of omnipotence. Jehovah is the “Mormonism” of this people, their Priesthood and their power; and all who adhere to it, will, in the appointed day, come up into the presence of the King Eternal, and receive a crown of life.” – Brigham Young, Great Salt Lake City, June 13, 1852 Also see Mormonism Research Ministry.

2 Thessalonians 2:3-4 “Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition; 4 Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God.”

Well, I think I may have been a bit premature in the last posting of our ‘Worst of the Worst’ series…ugh…

I’d never heard of the phrase ‘God could be dethroned’ until I read Brigham’s sermon here. Also noteworthy is the description that Mormonism is omnipotent. No organization, no people, no ‘thing’ is omnipotent. There’s nothing omnipotent but God. And that goes for their supposed priesthood power as well.

How sad for those who’ve yoked themselves with such debauchery! Oswald Chambers spoke on being yoked to Christ alone which serves as a great witnessing tool to the Mormon  you know –

“A spiritually minded man will never come to you with the demand — “Believe this and that”; but with the demand that you square your life with the standards of Jesus. We are not asked to believe the Bible, but to believe the One Whom the Bible reveals (cf. John 5:39-40). We are called to present liberty of conscience, not liberty of view. If we are free with the liberty of Christ, others will be brought into that same liberty — the liberty of realizing the dominance of Jesus Christ. … Always keep your life measured by the standards of Jesus. Bow your neck to His yoke alone, and to no other yoke whatever; and be careful to see that you never bind a yoke on others that is not placed by Jesus Christ.” – Oswald Chambers, My Utmost for His Highest, May 6

Pray for the opportunity to share Mr. Chambers’ message, and to ask the Mormon for their opinion about Young’s remarks.

Being a Christian brings joy, and hope! Mr. Young’s idea of life is filled with anything but that!

With Love in Christ;

Michelle
