Jeremiah 3:2-4; “Lift up thine eyes unto the high places, and see where thou hast not been lien with. In the ways hast thou sat for them, as the Arabian in the wilderness; and thou hast polluted the land with thy whoredoms and with thy wickedness. 3 Therefore the showers have been withholden, and there hath been no latter rain; and thou hadst a whore’s forehead, thou refusedst to be ashamed. 4 Wilt thou not from this time cry unto me, My father, thou art the guide of my youth?”
The Jeremiah passage above jumped off the page of my bible during my two year study of Jeremiah. To think I had polluted the land God created horrified me, as I’d never thought of the consequences of my actions as a Mormon in quite that way before.
I began putting more stock into all my actions from that time forward, and it’s definitely changed the way I operate on a daily basis even today. Case in point is our post today –
A FB friend of Life After posted a 25 second video of a Mormon Temple ceremony that we’ve reposted here, and on LAM’s FB page.
I know, I know, it comes across as sensationalistic, and I do what I can to avoid all drama (especially at my age!). Sometimes, however, there’s no getting around the ugly – it is what it is.
My first reaction to this was horror. The longer I’m a Christian, the more shocking this type of activity is to me, and I’m sure I’m not alone. This has saddened my heart, as I’m sure it has, or will yours, so we’re not asking, rather, we’re on our knees pleading that Christians pray for those in this video, and Mormonism at large.
Note: The video alone is bad, but make sure you listen to this as well. Their monotone voices are downright haunting…
For LDS Members: As you watch the brief clip, I pray you ask yourself –
How does this activity glorify the Lord?
- Where in the Bible does it tell us to do these things? (Be specific)
- Why is a Masonic Fraternity ritual played out in temples that are supposed to be holy ground?
- What does this do to grow your faith in God?
- Who originally came up with the Masonic rituals that are now part of the Mormon temple endowment ceremonies?
- Was the originator a god-fearing, holy man of God?
- Do you believe God will hear the words of your mouth by chanting?
If the answers you came up with aren’t satisfactory, I pray you’ll reconsider what you’re doing. I say this with all humility and care in my heart for you!
With Love in Christ;
