Mormon Paid Clergy Lies

22 April

1 Timothy 5:17-18; “Let the elders that rule well be counted worthy of double honour, especially they who labour in the word and doctrine. 18 For the scripture saith, Thou shalt not muzzle the ox that treadeth out the corn. And, The labourer is worthy of his reward.”

It would only stand to reason when you knowingly lie, some type of inner mechanism would kick in, alerting you to be on guard. What most people would experience, aka shame, doesn’t seem to be a problem for LDS hierarchy. The lies they unabashedly tell are a wonder indeed, and not in a good way. Not only is the lack of shame not a problem, they seem to believe no one will ever rat them out.

What I discovered the other day proves you shouldn’t trust that theory!

While looking for a reference of an LDS quote, I found an eye-opening document someone ‘in the know’ posted online at Reddit. It serves as the quintessential proof how Mormon leaders don’t bat an eye when they lie about themselves, and/or the Church.

In the April 2006 General Conference late Mormon prophet, Thomas S. Monson, shared a story of the 1985 visit he had with Communist East German leader, Minister Gysi. Monson said the state leader asked him how his church got so rich. Monson answered,

“…we follow the ancient biblical principle of tithing, which principle is reemphasized in our modern scripture. I explained also that our Church has no paid ministry…’

Monson knew this was a lie the moment it left his lips. Perhaps he thought there’s strength in numbers because his side kick Henry B. Eyring, told the same lie six years earlier, and wrote about it in the July 2000 LDS Liahona Magazine.

At that time Eyring told LDS youth no matter who you are, you’re equipped to serve in the Church. His plea for everyone to feel welcome contained the following comment –

‘…Because we have no professional clergy, the challenge of calls to serve…’

His very public statement was made about the same time he received his monthly salary from the LDS Church.

To read the Church’s statements in full see General Conference, ‘Our Sacred Priesthood Trust,’ April 2006, and Liahona, ‘Watch Over and Strengthen,’ July 2000.

To read the posts where we retrieved the info, see Reddit.com, and MormonInfoGraphics.com. The image on the right comes from MormonInfoGraphics.com.

We can’t understand why they feel the need to lie. Everyone works, and receives a salary from their employers. These people aren’t God, and don’t self-exist, so what’s the big deal if they’re paid?

We’re thinking it probably contradicts the original message of Joe Smith’s gospel when he adamantly said only corrupt ministers take money from the parishioners…

Be sure to share the info with a Mormon you know, and ask what they think of this!

With Love in Christ;

Michelle
