How did the Mormon Jesus Father Himself?

28 December

Galatians 1:6-8; “I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel: 7 Which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ. 8 But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed.”

Book of Mormon 1830 ed., p. 32

galatians-16-8“18 And he said unto me, Behold, the virgin which thou seest, is the mother of God, after the manner of the flesh. 21 And the angel said unto me, behold the Lamb of God, yea, even the Eternal Father!…”

Today we’re simply asking a few questions about this BoM passage –

1.How and why did the LDS Mary give birth to a son here on earth who was actually her brother in the pre-existence?

2.How did the Mormon ‘Lamb of God’ father himself?

3.How and why did the Mormon Mary give birth to her ‘eternal Father’?

4.If this was an inspired work of God, why were there so many flaws in the original writing, necessitating a rewrite?

As you can see in the latest edition for the BoM, everything’s been rewritten with no hint of the earlier fiasco.

Book of Mormon 2013 ed.

1 Nephi 11:18, 21 “And he said unto me: Behold, the virgin whom thou seest is the mother of the Son of God, after the manner of the flesh. 21 And the angel said unto me: Behold the Lamb of God, yea, even the Son of the Eternal Father! …”

Lastly, I want to reiterate just how powerful God’s word is in the hands of His followers!

There are many times when I read the passage in Galatians at the top of this article, I’m reminded of a phone call I received years ago. The young man who called was requesting info on Mormonism. I don’t recall all the details, but he mentioned he was getting on a bus to go back home to Utah. He then said that before he boarded, out of nowhere, three young kids approached him and began chatting with him.

As they got talking, they discovered he was very active in the LDS Church, and so they began sharing the gospel with him. One of the young men asked if the Mormon (the kid who called me) had a Bible. When he said no, one of them handed him his own Bible.

All three kept telling him to read Galatians 1:6-8 on his long bus ride home.

After an hour or so into the bus ride, he opened the Bible and began reading in Galatians. He accepted the Lord right there and then! PTL! About a week later, he picked up the phone and called us! Thank You Jesus!

All this to say dear ones – never underestimate the power of His word and the influence you, the believer, can have on a random stranger!
