Exaltation
Companion to Your Study of the New Testament: The Four Gospels: pg 85; “Exaltation is a synonym for eternal life. Exaltation comes only to those who inherit the highest degree within the celestial kingdom. It is the power to have eternal increase after the resurrection; it consists in the continuation of the family unit throughout eternity; it is the type of life that is lived by our Heavenly Father.”
Luke 14:11; “For whosoever exalteth himself shall be abased; and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted.”
Working your way to godhood status to be exalted clearly contradicts what Jesus told us to do. Furthermore, believing you are the only true church on the face of the earth is another way of exalting yourself which again contradicts what Jesus said.
I see no conflict between the study guide and your quote from Luke.
The study guide says we need to be exalted to Live with Father and Luke is talking about how we need to think and act so we can be exalted.
What is it that you find to be conflicting?
(…believing you are the only true church on the face of the earth is another way of exalting yourself…)
You have often said that you are able to tell me that I am not a Christian because you are part of the one and only true Body of Christ. Even though you may not call that organization a “church”, you call your group the only true organization on the face of the earth.
If I were to believe your statement, I would have to also place your “Body of Christ” into the same categorie and say you are trying to exalt yourself.
We don’t exalt ourselves because Jesus said that we would be abased if we did. We also don’t think highly of ourselves but put other people before us (and only through the power of the Holy Spirit can we accomplish that)
We simply say that Jesus is the only way. Believing in Him and following Him is the only thing that matters. We only claim the truth, if people think that is exalting ourselves or that we are being exclusive, then they will have their chance to take it up with Jesus… “I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life, no one comes to the Father except through Me” John 14:6
