Book of Mormon Translated Correctly

Journal of Discourses 2:293-294; “Before this was offered to the world, the Lord confirmed it by opening the heavens in broad day light, and sending down an holy angel, who descended in the presence of four individuals, three besides Mr. Smith, and the angel took the plates, and turned them over leaf after leaf, while, at the same time, the voice of the Lord out of the heavens told them it had been translated correctly, commanding them to send forth their testimony to all nations, kingdoms, tongues, and people.” – Orson Pratt, Salt Lake City, January 7, 1855

Revelation 22:18-19; “For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book: 19 And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.”

I’m aware that our postings and the subject matters we speak about on this blog bring tension to those who belong to the LDS Church.  For that my heart breaks. Believe it or not this isn’t what I expected to be doing with my life.

Someone asked me the other day what I had imagined I would be doing with my life if I wasn’t in ministry. Well I would’ve been a stay at home mom until the kids left the nest and then I would’ve tested to receive my credentials to teach about the history of world wars, specializing on WW2 at the college level. Those were my plans…God obviously saw me doing something else!

The one thing that hasn’t changed in all my years as a human being is my views about the culture I was raised in and the heritage I held dear. The dichotomy of what I knew was wrong and contradictory and the way my heart held me captive played an integral role in my life for 30 years. I finally came to the conclusion the Jesus of the Bile and my beloved heritage couldn’t co-exist.

It hurts my heart each time I post and never do I take these things lightly. I know how inflammatory the allegations are, but I also know when truth is embraced and accepted God heals our hearts as Jesus reveals Himself to us and the Holy Spirit residing inside the believer confirms the truth.

Truth can’t be lost for it will always be in the same place you left it and most importantly it doesn’t change.  This is what I discovered as I learned more about the Bible and my Book of Mormon.

Unfortunately I found the Book of Mormon is replete with problem after problem, proving its contents are not true. To date there have been close to 4,000 grammatical changes made to the Book of Mormon affecting the message of its contents. This fact alone negates the words of Orson Pratt we posted here today.

Additionally, I have personally counted more than 7,200 Greek and/or Latin words in the Book of Mormon which Smith incidentally promised were not on the plates from which he translated and what we now know to be the Book of Mormon.  http://lifeafterministry.wordpress.com/2011/07/04/book-of-mormon-greek-latin-word-chart/

There is also the problem every Mormon should question about the LDS claim to the validity of the Book of Mormon containing the fullness of the gospel. This has been proven time and again by many people including Life After, not to be true.  http://lifeafterministry.wordpress.com/2011/04/01/book-of-mormon-fullness-of-the-gospel-2/

There are also the hundreds of contradictions between the Bible and the Book of Mormon which deserves the serious attention by anyone interested in those two books.

We can and will continue to post articles about Mormonism as long as we can disproving the claims of Joseph Smith and company. However, I also know the Holy Spirit is the one the does the convincing – not us. For many of us that have left the Church it wasn’t a matter of just one thing that caused us to leave.

I left the Church for a handful of reasons presented to me over a number of years. From the patient Christian friends who told me the truth about Jesus to my own investigations and comparisons of the Book of Mormon and Bible to hearing that the Jesus of Mormonism wasn’t the Jesus of the Bible….all these things added to my decision to leave the Church.  Not to mention as I said before – the Holy Spirit’s promptings that I was in the wrong place!

God Bless you for your ministry and for your understanding of the truth. It was websites like this that gave me the truth I needed to get out of the false religion. I knew something was missing in the religion and found it in the real and true living Jesus Christ, the one and only true God. I also knew things didn’t seem to add up in Mormonism. Once I started researching the church history and doctrine, it was easy to see that the religion was man-made and no better than the polytheistic religions of the pre-Kingdom of Israel. Now they have taken Satanic rituals and stuck them in so-called temples. Wasn’t there only to be one temple to protect the Ark of the Covenant? If you were supposed to base your salvation on good works and temple worship, why did Christ not teach that? Why did our High Priest take the law and the priesthood with him? Why did He not teach work for the dead? There are hundreds/thousands of issues and all go against the Holy Bible and amazingly the mormons continue to carry it around with them. The truth hit me like a ton of bricks and it will anyone who swallows their pride, opens their hearts and truly accepts Christ as their Savior. Thank you again for all the work you do in witnessing for our Lord!

Thank you on behalf of all the volunteers who give their time to talk to people. The people who do these websites are spending their own time and talents in prayer to get the Good News of Jesus to all Mormons.

You offer very good points for Mormons to think about!

We are grateful that the Holy Spirit has drawn you to the Triune God. Thanks for posting!!! Have a lessed Easter!
