And the Mormon Deities are…Jesus, Adam, Heavenly Mother, and God to Name a Few…

07 May

1 Kings 8:60 “That all the people of the earth may know that the LORD is God, and that there is none else.”

We received an e-mail not long ago asking which of the Mormon deities came first. To that, we have no answer, however, it prompted me to compile a short list of deities Mormonism says are in existence.

Mormon history is replete with tales of numerous gods they believe have existed, their part in creation, and the world in which humanity lives today. Make no mistake, they’ve created a tangled web of contradictions, and impossibilities. Without attempting to untangle their mess, we’re simply listing the major players [gods] in world of Mormonism.

If you’re a Mormon we want you to know that we pray for you all the time and hope to hear from you!  We pray you will come to know this awesome God of the Bible that loves you so much and where you’ll find freedom for your tired soul.

With Love in Christ;

Michelle

Mormon Deities

God, the Polygamist   God’s Exaltation & Spiritual                                       Reproduction
The Seer, p. 172 ‘…God the Father had a plurality of wives, one or more being in eternity, by whom He begat our spirits as well as the spirit of Jesus His First Born, and another being upon the earth by whom He begat the tabernacle of Jesus, as His Only Begotten in this world. We have also proved most clearly that the Son followed the example of his Father, and became the great Bridegroom to whom kings’ daughters and many honorable Wives were to be married.’ – Orson Pratt Journal of Discourses 6:275; “After men have got their exaltations and their crowns — have become Gods, even the song of God –are made Kings of kings and Lords of lords, they have the power then of propagating their species in spirit; and that is the first of their operations with regard to organizing a world. Power is then given to them to organize the elements, and then commence the organization of tabernacles…” – Brigham Young. Special Conference – Tabernacle. Great Salt Lake City, 28th August 1852
          God and Mary

The Seer, p. 158; “The fleshly body of Jesus required a Mother as well as a Father. Therefore, the Father and Mother of Jesus, according to the flesh, must have been associated together in the capacity of Husband and Wife; hence the Virgin Mary must have been, for the time being, the lawful wife of God the Father: we use the term lawful Wife, because it would be blasphemous  in the highest degree to say that He overshadowed her or begat the Savior unlawfully….But God having created all men and women had the most perfect right to do with His own creation, according  to His holy will and pleasure: He had a lawful right to overshadow the Virgin Mary in the capacity of a husband, and beget a Son, although she was espoused to another, for the law which He gave to govern men and women was not intended to govern Himself, or to prescribe rules for his own conduct.”

Jesus, the Polygamous Son of God

Journal of Discourses 13:309; “The Scripture says that He, the LORD, came walking in the Temple,   with HIS TRAIN; I do not now [sic] who they were, unless HIS WIVES AND CHILDREN;…” – Brigham Young, Ogden City, Utah, November 13, 1870

         Jesus is The Eternal God

Title page, Book of Mormon; “…And also to the convincing of the Jew and Gentile that Jesus is the Christ, the ETERNAL GOD…”

Adam, the Archangel Michael, is                             God

D&C 27:11; “And also with Michael, or Adam, the father of all, the prince of all, the ancient of days.”

D&C 78:16; “Who hath appointed Michael your prince, and established his feet, and set him upon high, and given unto him the keys of salvation under the counsel and direction of the Holy One, who is without beginning of days or end of life.”

            Adam is God of All

On the Potter’s Wheel”, Appendix A, Memorandum Book, H. C. Kimball; “April 30, 1862. The Lord told me that Adam was my father and that he was the God and father of all of the inhabitants of this Earth.” – Stanley B. Kimball, editor

          Heavenly Mother

The Heavenly Mother of Mormonism “Logic and reason would certainly suggest that if we have a Father in Heaven, we have a Mother in Heaven. That doctrine rests well with me. However, in light of the instruction we have received from the Lord Himself, I regard it as inappropriate for anyone in the Church to pray to our Mother in Heaven…The fact that we do not pray to our Mother in Heaven in no way belittles or denigrates her…none of us can add to or diminish the glory of whom we have no revealed knowledge” (Ensign, November 1991)

Heavenly Parents; Even the Pagans                                   Believe!

Gospel Through the Ages, pgs 100-101; “Not only have the prophets of God throughout the various dispensations declared that mortals are the children of Heavenly Parents and that God placed mankind into mortality; but the pagan religions preserved in their theologies kindred doctrine. The ancient Greek poets and philosophers, the Mystery Religions, and even the first settlers of the Mesopotamian Valley proclaimed these divine truths. 101 In the Cybele—Attis cult, which originated in central Asia Minor, the supreme deity was known as the “Great Mother.” She was believed to be the mother not only “of all the gods,” but “of all men” as well. Several other cults which were pagan rivals of Christianity had beliefs similar to those of the Cybele—Attis cult, each of which maintained that men were the offspring of heavenly beings.” – Milton Hunter

    Heavenly Father a Resurrected                                  Man

History of the Church 5:426; “As the Father hath power in Himself, so hath the Son power in Himself, to lay down His life and take it again, so He has a body of His own. The Son doeth what He hath seen the Father do: then the Father hath some day laid down His life and taken it again; so He has a body of His own; each one will be in His own body; and yet the sectarian world believe the body of the Son is identical with the Fathers.”

The Goddess Bride            Juvenile Instructor, Vol. 29, No. 5, April 15, 1894, p 263; “…Tis recorded in your journal How you stood by Father’s side, when by pow’rs that are eternal thou wast sealed His goddess bride…”
