Members Only: Temple Changes Memo not Released to Public

23 March

‘Howbeit the most High dwelleth not in temples made with hands; as saith the prophet.’ Acts 7:48

In the never-ending cat and mouse game the Church plays it seems they’ve done it again with the latest temple changes. This time around we’re talking about the elimination of the Veil Worker position in Mormon temples. The official announcement was made on March 1, 2019.

If you go online looking for the official Church statement on how they’ve eliminated the Veil Worker position, you’ll come up empty handed.

You can find numerous stories published by nonofficial pro-LDS media outlets; LDSDaily.comLDSLiving.com, and ThisWeekinMormons.com, to name a few. However as I said, if you aren’t a member with a special code to put in for access to what the Church leaders say, you’re outta luck my friend.

Each of the sites mentioned above actually provided the ‘news’, but when you click on any of their links to see it for yourself, it comes up with the Church’s official page of wanting your membership number. It’s odd each of the sites listed the non-functioning link, and stranger still, the Church won’t publicly divulge the news themselves. Hmmm…

Here’s what the Church had to say via LDSLiving.com –

Church Announces Adjustments to Temple Policies in New Letter “On March 1, 2019, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints issued a letter explaining adjustments to temple-related policies that were approved by the First Presidency. The letter explains, “These modifications are to simplify service in the temple and better meet the needs of members and leaders and are effective immediately.”…In addition, there will no longer be a veil worker calling. The letter explains, “Accordingly, brethren who were previously designated to serve solely as veil workers will be released by the temple presidency. As their circumstances allow, these brethren may be called and set apart as ordinance workers and given a special assignment to serve at the veil…” [emp. added]

As an FYI, the Church came out with an announcement two months prior claiming their prophets have always modified things along the way –

Church News 2 January 2019 “… Scriptures document patterns of temple worship from the times of Adam and Eve, Moses, Solomon, Nephi, and others. … “Over these many centuries, details associated with temple work have been adjusted periodically, including language, methods of construction, communication, and record-keeping. … Prophets have taught that there will be no end to such adjustments as directed by the Lord to His servants. “A dedicated temple is the most holy of any place of worship on the earth…” [emp. added]

Now with the commotion behind us, we have a few questions…

1.Joseph Smith said there should never be any changes made.

Teachings of the Prophet Joseph Smith, p. 308 “Ordinances instituted in the heavens before the foundation of the world, in the priesthood, for the salvation of men, are not to be altered or changed.” [emp. added]

2.Adam and Eve participated in temple rituals? Really? Come now! As for Moses – why hasn’t the Church taught its members that Moses instituted the method of worship and sacrifice? As for Nephi…well, it goes without saying there’s no proof of Nephi…

3.Exactly which ‘prophets over the centuries have taught there will be no end to such adjustments’?

Oh please, if you’re LDS, study what they’ve said and done! Compare it with what God says in His word and worship Him alone!

With Love in Christ;

Michelle
