Why do You Love the Book of Mormon?

21 October

mormon-scripturesThis morning I came across a Facebook page titled “I Love the Book of Mormon”. My question to Mormons is why do you love this book? What’s so special about it?

The mormon.org website describes the Book of Mormon as “another witness that Jesus Christ really lived, that He was and is God’s Son. “ As I read that statement alone a couple of questions came to mind such as:

Why is another witness needed?

He’s God of the Universe. He created everything, so why does such a holy and powerful God even need another witness?

Furthermore if you truly are a believer in Jesus Christ why do you need more proof of who He is, why don’t you trust that He is who He said He was?

Yes, these questions are more rhetorical than anything else but it would be nice hear what those of the Mormon faith have to say.

I wish Mormons could see that the Book of Mormon is nothing more than a hook their church uses to entice non-believers and to cause doubt in the hearts of lukewarm Christians as to the authority of the Bible. I believe it all goes back to the same lie Satan used in the garden to plant doubts in Eve’s mind.

He uses those same lies to make us doubt God and His Word today.

Did God really say that? Can you really trust the Bible alone by itself? How can you believe it or trust it? Don’t you know it’s been translated like a million times and has been corrupted by evil men?

Those little, subtle doubts and lies are what has led to many people embracing the Book of Mormon over God’s Holy Word.

Satan is the father of lies. He’s a master manipulator and will use everything and anything at his disposal to take us down. To those who are ignorant in regard to the supreme authority of God and His Word, the Book of Mormon may look like a good thing. But in the end like the forbidden fruit will only lead them further away from God.

In Christ,

Melissa Grimes

One Response to “Why do You Love the Book of Mormon?”

When I read the book of Mormon, I am a better man. It makes me want to spend more time helping and serving others, and being Christ’s hands here on earth.

In both the Old Testament and the New Testament, Jesus Christ establish the law of witnesses. He thought that the word should be established in the mouth of two or three witnesses. There are so many people that doubt the authenticity of the Bible and believe it stories and teachings to be fables and folklore. The book of Mormon is a second Testament of Jesus Christ, and is an additional witness to the divinity and teachings of Jesus Christ. When combined they fulfill the revelation In Ezekiel 37: versus 16 and 17 where two books or joined into one. Isaiah chapter 29 is another chapter that was literally fulfilled by The restoration of Christ’s gospel. A gospel with prophets and apostles. A gospel with missionary zeal. A gospel of Baptism by immersion just as Christ was baptized, and priesthood power that can bind on earth and bind in heaven as was given to Peter.

Christ taught, by their fruits you shall know them. What are the fruits of one who reads the book of Mormon and follows its teachings? Let me give you a few points of doctrine revealed in the Book of Mormon. These points are perfectly consistent with teachings in the Bible.
    1. We talk of Christ we rejoice in Christ, we preach of Christ, we prophesy of Christ, and we right according to our prophecies that our children may know to what source they may look for a remission of their sins.
    2. For the natural man is an enemy to God, and has been from the fall of Adam, and will be forever and ever, and less he yields to the enticings of the Holy Spirit and become at a saint through the atonement of Christ, and become as a child, submissive, meat, humble, impatient, full of love, willing to submit to all things which the Lord to see if it to inflict.
    3. Yeah come unto Christ and be perfected in him and didn’t know your selves of all ungodliness; and if you shall deny yourself of all ungodliness and love God with all your might, mind and strength, then it’s his grace efficient for you that by his grace she may be perfect in Christ

    4. And now behold I ask of you in the church, have you spiritually been born of God? Have you received his image in your countenance is? Have you experienced this mighty change in your hearts? Do you exercise faith in the redemption of him who created you? These are the questions that I ask myself every week and by reading and studying the Bible and the book of Mormon I am able to progressively come closer To God.

So what are the fruits of living a life as part in the book of Mormon? Serving others. Studying regularly about Christ and his life and strive every day to follow him. Honesty, virtue, patience, kindness, forgiving, humility, long-suffering regularlyattendance st church services, honoring the Sabbath day and keep it holy, take the sacrament as Jesus instituted it to remind us to take upon ourselves Jesus Christ name and act as he would act. And last but not least, look to Christ in all things. If, as you say, that the book of Mormon is the devils playbook, then we must believe in a different devil. The devil does anything in his power to separate disciples from living a Christ like life, however the book of Mormon teaches us to strive to live a more Christ like life
