Lies Henry Eyring Told LDS Kids

08 May

Today we’re looking at one of the articles in the latest Liahona Magazine which is intended for the youth group of the LDS Church.

We’ve given scriptures for you to share with the Mormon you know, showing how everything Mr. Eyring said to these kids is a lie.

All of our responses will be in red font.

Liahona, ‘His Spirit to be with You,’ May 2018

The conditions on which we can receive that supernal blessing are made clear in the words that are spoken every week but perhaps do not always sink into our hearts and minds.

1.To have the Spirit sent to us, we must “always remember” the Savior and “keep his commandments” (D&C 20:77).

John 14:13 “And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.”

2.We have the priceless promise of the Holy Ghost as a companion, and we also have true directions on how to claim that gift.

John 14:16 “And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever”.

3.These words are said by the Lord’s authorized servant with his hands on our head…

[Note: they’re referring to a prayer to receive Mormon Holy Ghost.]

Luke 18:13 “And the publican, standing afar off, would not lift up so much as hiseyes unto heaven, but smote upon his breast, saying, God be merciful to me a sinner.”

4.At that moment you and I have the assurance He will be sent. But our obligation is to choose to open our hearts to receive the ministration of the Spirit over a lifetime.

Hebrews 13:5 “Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.”

D&C 130:23 states the Holy Ghost can depart from you.

“A man may receive the Holy Ghost, and it may descend upon him and not tarry with him.”

5.He [Joseph Smith] obeyed inspiration when it was difficult. …

Joe’s inspiration did not come from God. He rejected the God of the Bible, and Jesus said a house divided against itself cannot stand. (Mark 3:25If Joe was worshiping God, he wouldn’t state God and Jesus are two separate beings, or that God is an exalted man.

6.The first choice he made was to be humble before God.

Not true. Joe bragged that not even Jesus could keep a church together. Moreover, he dared the whole world to defy him! Smith said;

History of the Church, v. 6, pp. 408-409 “Come on! ye persecutors! ye false swearers! All hell, boil over! Ye burning mountains, roll down your lava! for I will come out on top at last. I have more to boast of than ever any man had. I am the only man that has been able to keep a whole church together since the days of Adam. A large majority of the whole have stood by me. Neither Paul, John, Peter, nor Jesus ever did it. I boast that no man ever did such a work as I. The followers of Jesus ran away from Him; but the Latter-day Saints never ran away from me yet… When they can get rid of me, the devil will also go.”

7.The second was to pray with faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.

Joe Smith’s Jesus was a created being.

8.The third was to obey exactly.

This is obviously a lie. If Smith had done so, you and I wouldn’t be reading about his lies.

Pray for Jesus to guard the minds of these impressionable young kids!

With Love in Christ;

Michelle
