LDS: ‘We Can’t Really Become Just Like Jesus’

Our Search for Happiness—An Invitation to Understand the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, p. 14 “…our belief in Christ is not passive. We believe that He and our Heavenly Father continue to minister to mankind today through inspiration and revelation. The leaders of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints function under His divine direction just as the early apostles and prophets did when His Church was fully upon the earth. Ours is an active, vibrant faith dedicated to serving the Lord and doing the things He would do if He were walking among us. As we do His will we feel His spirit, a peaceful, comforting presence that warms our souls with courage and faith and draws us ever closer to Him. And as we draw closer to Him, we learn to love Him and our Eternal Father, and we find ourselves showing our love for them by keeping their commandments—which helps us to become more like them.

Focus on the Prince of Peace

Not that we can ever really become just like Jesus. But as we commit ourselves to Him—spiritually, physically, and emotionally—He blesses our lives with loving direction. Every decision we make from that time on is affected, because there are certain things a man or woman of Christ simply will not do. Our actions become more disciplined, our relationships become more righteous; even our language becomes more pure as we live a life that is centered on Jesus Christ and His teachings. Simply put, after the spirit of Christ enters our hearts and our souls, we can never be the same again.” — M. Russell Ballard

Isaiah 43:10-11 “Ye are my witnesses, saith the Lord, And my servant whom I have chosen:  That ye may know and believe me, And understand that I am he: Before me there was no God formed, Neither shall there be after me. 11  I, even I, am the Lord; And beside me there is no saviour.”

Wow. Where do I begin? As I read over the comments from Mr. Ballard’s book, an array of thoughts went through my head, coupled with a rollercoaster wave of emotions. My first thought was Jesus. I can’t imagine His pain as He watches the wolves come in for the kill of an unsuspecting flock.

My next thought was coupled with anger for the confusion Mr. Ballard surely created in the hearts/minds of those who trust him.

Tonight I watched a video testimony of a woman who attends my church. She’s from Peru, and became a convert to Mormonism at a young age after being raised in a Christian home. After years of dedicated service to the Church, she immigrated here to the States. Long story short, she eventually turned her life over to Jesus, and  left Mormonism. However, what broke my heart is something she said about her journey to Christ.

Because ‘Jane’s’ native tongue isn’t English, she hadn’t realized just how sneaky the Church had been in converting her. She mentioned that after arriving here to the States she began studying English so she could understand the books published by the Church regarding their history.

Her words are something I’ve wondered about many times. She said she had no idea of their racist past, nor of the polygamy. Now. my fellow sister in Christ has been blessed by having the opportunity of moving to the States, and learning English. Imagine what it means for the countless others who have no idea.

It’s stunning to think of what they’ve pulled off, and the brazen tactics they employ. We saw this again first hand when their prophet met with the Pope, whom he considers to be part of the ‘whore of Babylon’. Reality TV has nothing on what these guys are up to…

For years the Church has told people their goal is godhood status. Ballard’s remarks blows the long coveted theory right out the window by stating they’ll ‘never be just like Him’.

So which is it Mr. Ballard?

Shame on him, and all those who keep perpetuating these awful lies. Please, pray for our Lord to intervene and save these dear people today!

One last thing…

Why couldn’t they have written a book called ‘An Invitation to Know God?’ You’ll notice in the Isaiah passage where God said He wants us to knowunderstand, and believe Him when He said He alone is God. It’s striking that God’s words are so similar to Ballard’s. Then again, this is the typical m.o. for the Church…

With Love in Christ;

Michelle
