LDS Virgin Mary Video

08 May

mary-the-mother-of-jesusOh dear… that was the first thing that went through my head when I clicked on a link from the front page of the LDS website and landed on the page for ‘Mary, the Mother of Jesus’.

It seems that it never ends with the Church lately and the extent they go to with their Westernized paintings of biblical era people and videos. My next reaction was surprise.  I just posted an article earlier in the day (5/5/2014) asking Mormons why they never use the word  Jesus as a standalone word when referring to Him and here they are doing just that – shocker!  I stand duly corrected as this is the first time I’ve ever seen them do such a thing – perhaps other miracles will manifest themselves in the future…like repenting???

With the formalities out our way let’s get to the point shall we?

The Church has produced a series of Bible videos on numerous stories from God’s word depicting the lives of various people.  Each video is 2-4 minutes in length and members are encouraged to share pictures from the videos via e-cards or other social media outlets.

This particular video comes with the scripture reference from Luke 1:26-35.

We’re listing that passage here because of how vitally important it is for the Christian to understand Mormons don’t believe this and the wording in their own canon and teachings of LDS leaders contradict what Luke said in his gospel.  If Christians were more aware of what Mormons do to trick people I’m certain far less people would be climbing aboard the Mormon bandwagon of lies.

As you’ll see in their teachings below, LDS beliefs don’t reflect the teachings God gave to us in His word whatsoever.

Ask your Mormon friend or loved one what they believe about Jesus’ conception and if Mary was really a virgin when she gave birth to the Mormon Jesus.

Miracle of God

Luke 1:26-35; “And in the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent from God unto a city of Galilee, named Nazareth, 27 To a virgin espoused to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David; and the virgin’s name was Mary. 28 And the angel came in unto her, and said, Hail, thou that art highly favoured, the Lord is with thee: blessed art thou among women. 29 And when she saw him, she was troubled at his saying, and cast in her mind what manner of salutation this should be. 30 And the angel said unto her, Fear not, Mary: for thou hast found favour with God. 31 And, behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a son, and shalt call his name JESUS. 32 He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Highest: and the Lord God shall give unto him the throne of his father David: 33 And he shall reign over the house of Jacob for ever; and of his kingdom there shall be no end. 34 Then said Mary unto the angel, How shall this be, seeing I know not a man? 35 And the angel answered and said unto her, The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee: therefore also that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God.”

Jesus the Son After the Manner of the Flesh

1 Nephi 11:18; “And he said unto me: Behold, the virgin whom thou seest is the mother of the Son of God, after the manner of the flesh.”

Jesus is God Incarnate

Mosiah 3:5, 8; “For behold, the time cometh, and is not far distant, that with power, the Lord Omnipotent who reigneth, who was, and is from all eternity to all eternity, shall come down from heaven among the children of men, and shall dwell in a tabernacle of clay, and shall go forth amongst men, working mighty miracles, such as healing the sick, raising the dead, causing the lame to walk, the blind to receive their sight, and the deaf to hear, and curing all manner of diseases. 8 And he shall be called Jesus Christ, the Son of God, the Father of heaven and earth, the Creator of all things from the beginning; and his mother shall be called Mary.”

Holy Ghost Could Impregnate Females

Journal of Discourses 1:51; “Now remember from this time forth, and for ever, that Jesus Christ was not begotten by the Holy Ghost…—“if the Son was begotten by the Holy Ghost, it would be very dangerous to baptize and confirm females, and give the Holy Ghost to them, lest he should beget children…”” – Brigham Young, Salt Lake City, April 9, 1852

Jesus Literally Begotten of God

Answers: Straightforward Answers to Tough Gospel Questions: p 24; “Why a Book of Mormon? Because it gives us an independent witness that Jesus is the Christ, the literal Son of God, conceived by Mary “after the manner of the flesh” (1 Ne. 11:18). It is a powerful witness that Christ labored among men, was judged by them, and was slain upon a cross “for the sins of the world” (1 Ne. 11:33). It affirms that he rose again in an inseparable union of body and spirit, that he loosed the bands of death for all, and that thus he made it possible for those who take upon themselves his name to obtain eternal life, which is God’s life (see Alma 11:40-41).” – Joseph Fielding McConkie

Literally Begotten of God

BYU Studies, Vol. 16 (1975-1976), p 560; “Now, in conclusion, I, acting as voice, as mouth as it were for you, declare the generation of the Lord Jesus, his genesis, the source from which he sprang: He is God’s son. He was born into this world after the manner of the flesh, with God as his father and Mary as his mother, inheriting the powers of mortality and immortality thereby.” – Who Shall Declare His Generation? by Elder Bruce R. McConkie

God Sired Jesus

Book of Mormon: The Keystone Scripture, p 74; “…the doctrine was once a part of the scriptures of the Old World and that the Nephites had brought it with them…

The importance of a God who is a personal being siring a Son of the flesh cannot be overstated, for it determines the very nature of the Atonement. A God of spirit essence cannot shed his blood in an atoning sacrifice, nor could such a one father a child in the flesh. Neither could an exalted, resurrected, and glorified being undergo a blood sacrifice himself, since the bodies of such beings do not contain the corruptible element of blood. Only the offspring of the union of an immortal being, one from whom the gift to live endlessly could be inherited, with a mortal personage of flesh and blood, could say of his own life: “No man taketh it from me, but I lay it down of myself [having obtained such capacity from my mortal mother]. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again [which I inherited from my immortal Father]” (John 10:18).” – Paul R. Cheesman, 1988

Jesus the Son in Most Literal Sense

Come Unto Christ, pg. 4; “The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints proclaims that Jesus Christ is the Son of God in the most literal sense. The body in which He performed His mission in the flesh was sired by that same Holy Being we worship as God, our Eternal Father. Jesus was not the son of Joseph, nor was He begotten by the Holy Ghost. He is the Son of the Eternal Father!” – Ezra Taft Benson

Jesus Begotten through Natural Laws

Journal of Discourses 8:115-116; “While brother Joseph was referring to the providences of God, I was led to reflect that there is no act, no principle, no power belonging to the Deity that is not purely philosophical. The birth of the Saviour was as natural as are the births of our children; it was the result of natural action. He partook of flesh and blood—was begotten of his Father, as we were of our fathers.” – Brigham Young, Salt Lake City, July 8, 1860

Jesus’ Birth

Promised Messiah, pg. 468; “There is no need to spiritualize away the plain meaning of the scriptures. There is nothing figurative or hidden or beyond comprehension in our Lord’s coming into mortality. He is the Son of God in the same sense and way that we are the sons of mortal fathers. It is just that simple.” – Bruce McConkie

Jesus’ Conception

Mormon Doctrine of Deity, pg. 264; “When the time came that his first-born, the Savior, should come into the world and take a tabernacle, the Father came himself and favored that spirit with a tabernacle instead of letting any other man do it. The Savior was begotten by the Father of his spirit, by the same Being who is the Father of our spirits, and that is all the organic difference between Jesus Christ and you and me.”

Jesus, Conception of Through Holy Spirit

Mormon Doctrine, pg. 822; “Our Lord is the only mortal person ever born to a virgin, because he is the only person who ever had an immortal Father. Mary, his mother, “was carried away in the Spirit” (1 Ne. 11:13-21), was “overshadowed” by the Holy Ghost, and the conception which took place “by the power of the Holy Ghost” resulted in the bringing forth of the literal and personal Son of God the Father. (Alma 7:10; 2 Ne. 17:14; Isa. 7:14; Matt. 1:18-25; Luke 1:26-38.) Christ is not the Son of the Holy Ghost, but of the Father. (Doctrines of Salvation, vol. 1, pp. 18-20.) Modernistic teachings denying the virgin birth are utterly and completely apostate and false.”

Jesus and Lucifer are Spiritual Brothers

Jesus the Christ, pg. 8; “Thus it is shown that prior to the placing of man upon the earth, how long before we do not know, Christ and Satan, together with the hosts of the spirit-children of God, existed as intelligent individuals, possessing power and opportunity to choose the course they would pursue and the leaders whom they would follow and obey.” – Apostle James Talmage

Jesus; Nature of

Doctrines of Salvation 1:18; “I believe firmly that Jesus Christ is the Only Begotten Son of God in the flesh. He taught this doctrine to his disciples…Jesus is greater than the Holy Spirit, which is subject unto him, but his Father is greater than he!”

One Response to “LDS Virgin Mary Video”

Thank you for so beautifully sharing our beliefs that Jesus is the literal Son of the Eternal Father, and the Father of us all.

However, no where in all the beautiful words that you quoted does it say that God had sex with Mary. In Luke 1:35 it says: “and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee: therefore also that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God.” I’m not sure how you can believe that Jesus is the Son of God and not believe that God is His father.

I am certain that the Constitution of the United States gives all people freedom of religion. That all people have a right to worship Almighty God according to the dictates of their own conscience.

I don’t bash your beliefs or tell you that you don’t believe the Bible or that you teach false doctrine, so why do you think you have the right to do that to me?

If you don’t believe the Gospel of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints that is your right. What isn’t your right is to denigrate, mock and ridicule what others do believe. You stick to what you believe and let other do the same.
