LDS Sunday School OT Lesson 36

01 April

old-testament-gospel-doctrine-teachers-manual-355700001The name of this lesson is “The Glory of Zion will be a Defense” and it focuses on the book of Isaiah chapters 1-6.

Working in this ministry day in and day out sometimes brings a sense of “it’s just another day at the office”. That is until.  Until the time when we encounter teachings like those I found in this lesson. It’s not often Mormon teachings stop me in my tracks like this did. After compiling my notes a chill went down my spine as I looked upon the information I had gathered.

I’m asking Christians to pray diligently for those caught in this satanic nightmare and that our dear sweet Jesus will have mercy on them!

In this lesson it isn’t so much about Joseph Smith as it is about the Book of Mormon and their temples. Most notably it isn’t about Isaiah either.  While they do list many of the passages in Isaiah they’re repeatedly told his prophecies are rewritten with added words for clarification in the BoM.  They’re also told the prophecies are about Mormonism and its agenda in the ‘latter days’.

Because this lesson is riddled with false prophecies and inconsistencies we’re only going to touch on a few of them here. You can access the lesson in full in the link above.

One of the most telling comments in the lesson is when they told the class to remember Isaiah’s response to God’s calling to be a prophet. They said this was the same response Jesus gave to God when asked to be the Redeemer.

Isaiah 6:8; “Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, Whom shall I send, and who will go for us? Then said I, Here am I; send me”.

Abraham 3:27; “And the Lord said: Whom shall I send? And one answered like unto the Son of Man: Here am I, send me. And another answered and said: Here am I, send me. And the Lord said: I will send the first”.

Of course the other “son” who answered was none other than the Mormon Jesus’ spirit brother, Lucifer.

The next example comes from Isaiah 5:26-29 when Isaiah described the woes of God upon Israel. He was going to make them as stubble because of their idolatry and called (hissed or whistled) to summon foreign nations to level the nation.

Mormons take this to mean the ensign that was lifted up is their church! They even said the “hiss” was an invitation to the nations of the earth to gather to the Church and their missionaries are fulfilling the prophecies by going throughout the earth to spread their gospel!!!

“In Isaiah 5:26–29, Isaiah describes the latter-day gathering of Israel. The ensign that is being lifted up is The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. To “hiss” is to whistle or summon, which represents the invitation to the nations of the earth to gather to the Church. This gathering will be swift and powerful.”

The last thing we want to point out is when they claimed Isaiah 2:2-3 is a prophecy about their temples in the last days. They said “many people will come to the house of God, which is the temple, and desire to learn God’s commandments and walk in his ways”.

Regrettably, I have to admit they’re right about that one. Many people have been tricked into believing their lies and have found themselves ensnared in a cumbersome web.

When Isaiah said “…it shall come to pass in the last days…” he was referring to the return of the Lord. The Hebrew words ‘last’ and ‘days’ are ‘achariyth’ and ‘yom’. This phrase is referring to the time of the Messiah when the Anointed of the Lord will return and rule over the earth in His millennial reign.

First and foremost remember what God said dear one!

1 Peter 5:8; “Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour”.

With Love in Christ;

Michelle
