LDS: Our God Doesn’t Change

19 June

Journal of Discourses 21:72-73 “The Lord is the same yesterday, today and forever. This is the cornerstone, it may be said, of our faith. It is upon this foundation we have built…he is today as he was yesterday and as he ever was, and that he will continue to be the same being as long as time endures or eternity continues.” – George Q. Canon, Salt Lake City, October 5th, 1879

Malachi 3:6 “For I am the Lord, I change not; Therefore ye sons of Jacob are not consumed.”

Also see 1,000+ Reasons to Leave Mormonism (Reasons Starting with ‘G’). In the entries for ‘God’ we’ve listed Mormon 9:9-10, and 19 that says their god cannot change, just as Mr. Cannon stated in the reference above. We use these verses from the BoM to witness to missionaries. After I ask them to read these aloud, I ask how it is their god was once a man.

A popular adage in Mormonism comes from their 5th prophet, Lorenzo Snow who stated in 1901, ‘As man now is, God once was; as God is now many may be’. Teachings of Lorenzo Snow, p. 1.

In addition to these examples, there’s yet another with their 4th prophet, Wilford Woodruff, who stated ‘God is Progressing’. This can be found in the 1,000+ Reasons link above.

Obviously, the Mormon god does change, and it’s been reiterated numerous times by their leaders. Pray for those who believe this fallacious theory, and share the truth with them today!

With Love in Christ;

Michelle
