Was Joseph Smith’s Magical Hat the Urim and Thummim?

04 December

The Saints Herald, pp. 310-311;“For, when acting as his scribe, your father would dictate hour after hour; and when after meals, or after interruptions, he would at once begin where he had left without either seeing the manuscript, or any portion of it read to him. This was a usual thing· for him to do. It would have been improbable that a learned man could do this; and for one so ignorant and unlearned as he was, it was simply impossible…  …a common expression among all those who were intimate with the scenes in the coming- forth of the book, to use the word “key,” “stone,” “interpreters,” all meaning the same namely, the Urim and Thummim.

The chief witnesses all agree… The Book of Mormon is the most ancient history of America, its people and its antiquities, that is now extant.

It is also the most correct and reliable… … and was translated from the language found on the plates into English by means of the Urim and Thummim, which was received with the record.”

Isaiah 8:19-20; “And when they shall say unto you, Seek unto them that have familiar spirits, And unto wizards that peep, and that mutter: Should not a people seek unto their God? For the living to the dead? 20 To the law and to the testimony: If they speak not according to this word, It is because there is no light in them.”

Isaiah’s warning is dire, if not downright scary. I’ve prayed the Lord would open the eyes of my people many times, and to warn the unsuspecting to look for warning signs Isaiah pointed out.

Now, according to Emma Smith, all the tools Smith used were referred to as ‘Urim and Thummim’.

Why is that? Why are these words interchangeable here, and not any other time in the English language?

Is Joe’s magic hat a type of ‘urim and thummim’? He used it to interpret the pseudo golden plates…was it found with the golden plates at the same time?

Furthermore, the painting the Church released on December 1st depicted a scene of Joe Smith along with another person, who could only be Oliver Cowdery. This one today of Joe Smith and Emma is another display of this family who openly practiced witchcraft, and brazenly so!

We thought the image from two days ago was interesting with his hat was in full view, but the plates were covered up.

Why did they portray the scene is this manner?

Our questions stem from a comment made by none other than Joseph Smith stating a cloth bag he presented to the family as the golden plates, was actually a bag filled with sand. See ‘Joseph Confesses to Tricking Family’.

Meanwhile, several of his friends claimed they saw the actual plates. This, of course, begs another question.

Who’s lying?

  1. Joe Smith?
  2. Those who claim they saw the plates?
  3. Both?

It looks like the Church is trying to rewrite its reputation, and we’re praying people take notice of their latest shenanigans. One thing is certain. Smith would be proud. Ugh…

Please, pray for those who are thinking of joining this false religion and their pagan gods, and for those who are already members to be convinced of the errors!

One last thing beloved. Our image today comes from the Ensign article we highlighted two days ago. See Ensign, ‘Joseph Smith: Strength Out of Weakness,’ December 2017 for the full story. You can read our article at ‘Gazing into a Hat While Translating?’.

Notice how indiscreet his hat is just sitting there, as if this was no big deal, and it’s been openly discussed since the beginning. Nothing could be further from the truth!

With Love in Christ;

Michelle
