Joseph Smith’s Contradictions about Enoch

03 January

Isaiah 8:20 “To the law and to the testimony: If they speak not according to this word, It is because there is no light in them.”

Today we’re checking out what Joe Smith had to say about Enoch. To be sure, Smith was never short on opinions, but one of his favorite subjects was on the man from the Bible who’s only mentioned eleven times.

Little is known about Enoch outside of the eight verses we have in Genesis, and once each in Jude, Luke, and Hebrews. What we can say with certainty is that Enoch walked with God before He took him up to heaven as He did Elijah. We also know Enoch was 365 years old when he was translated.

Two notable things we find in Smith’s rendition of events is how he assigned different ages to Enoch, and he even referred to himself as Enoch.

We’ve provided a few examples you’ll find below. The real take away in all this? It’s another example of why Joseph Smith was/is a false prophet.

Be sure to share this truth with a Mormon you know!

With Love in Christ;

1 Cor 1:18

Genesis 5:23-24 “And all the days of Enoch were three hundred sixty and five years: 24 And Enoch walked with God: and he was not; for God took him.”

Doctrine and Covenants 107:49 “And he saw the Lord, and he walked with him, and was before his face continually; and he walked with God three hundred and sixty-five years, making him four hundred and thirty years old when he was translated.”

Moses 8:1 “And all the days of Enoch were four hundred and thirty years.”

JST Genesis 7:78 “And it came to pass, that Zion was not, for God received it up into his own bosom; and from thence went forth the saying, Zion is fled. And all the days of Enoch were four hundred and thirty years.”

Teachings of the Prophet Joseph Smith, p. 169-170 “If Cain had fulfilled the law of righteousness as did Enoch, he could have walked with God all the days of his life, and never failed of a blessing. “And Enoch walked with God after he begat Methuselah 300 years, and begat sons and daughters, and all the days of Enoch were 365 years; and Enoch walked with God, and he was not, for God took him.””
