Joe Smith’s Outdated Lies Still Present in Mormon Canon

04 February

Doctrine and Covenants 62:6;“Behold, I, the Lord, have brought you together that the promise might be fulfilled, that the faithful among you should be preserved and rejoice together in the land of Missouri. I, the Lord, promise the faithful and cannot lie.”

Titus 1:2; “In hope of eternal life, which God, that cannot lie, promised before the world began”.

Numbers 23:19a; “God is not a man, that he should lie…”

On the banks of the Missouri River 186 years ago (August 1831), Joe Smith delivered the false prophecy seen above. Today we have a few questions about it, and praying Mormons would stop to wonder why their god keeps lying to them.

1.Why is this still part of LDS canon 186 years later?

2.What purpose does this ‘scripture’ serve for the average Mormon like my mother?

3.Mormons today aren’t planning on going back to Missouri, so now what?

4.The 2 word phrase ‘cannot lie’ sounds like they’ve lifted another biblical phrase. Why would they do this when they believe God’s perfect word has been translated incorrectly? See Article of Faith #8.

If you’re LDS, please know that we’re praying diligently for you! We don’t publish this info as a means to bash, or degrade the Mormon people at all. Our hearts truly hurt for the predicament you’re in, regardless of your acceptance of it.

As always, if you find anything on our sites/blogs with incorrect information we look forward to hearing about it so we can correct it immediately.

With Love in Christ;

Michelle
