How Patriarchal Blessings Violate Mormon Doctrines

08 May

Today we’re looking at a unique Mormon tradition known as Patriarchal Blessings. Foregoing the fact this ceremony is much like a modern-day reading of a horoscope in a séance setting, we’re digging deeper at timelines.

Until 1978 the Church held fast to their racist ideology by excluding all non-whites from true Mormon salvation. Anyone with even a drop of Hamitic (aka African American, or what they called Negro) blood was excluded from holding their priesthood. Today their canon still carries the ungodly doctrines in Abraham 1:20-2226-27.

“Behold, Potiphar’s Hill was in the land of Ur, of Chaldea. And the Lord broke down the altar of Elkenah, and of the gods of the land, and utterly destroyed them, and smote the priest that he died; and there was great mourning in Chaldea, and also in the court of Pharaoh; which Pharaoh signifies king by royal blood. 21 Now this king of Egypt was a descendant from the loins of Ham, and was a partaker of the blood of the Canaanites by birth. 22 From this descent sprang all the Egyptians, and thus the blood of the Canaanites was preserved in the land. 26 Pharaoh, being a righteous man, established his kingdom and judged his people wisely and justly all his days, seeking earnestly to imitate that order established by the fathers in the first generations, in the days of the first patriarchal reign, even in the reign of Adam, and also of Noah, his father, who blessed him with the blessings of the earth, and with the blessings of wisdom, but cursed him as pertaining to the Priesthood. 27 Now, Pharaoh being of that lineage by which he could not have the right of Priesthood, notwithstanding the Pharaohs would fain claim it from Noah, through Ham, therefore my father was led away by their idolatry…”

Meanwhile during the time of their exclusions, LDS members busied themselves with Patriarchal Blessings where they’d find out from which tribe they supposedly originated. Most were (and still are) told they belong to either the Tribe of Ephraim, or the Tribe of Manasseh.

Therein Lies the Problem…

Both Ephraim and Manasseh were sons of Joseph. As you’ll recall, Joseph was married to Asenath, the daughter of the Egyptian Priest of On.

Genesis 41:4550-52 “And Pharaoh called Joseph’s name Zaphnath-paaneah; and he gave him to wife Asenath the daughter of Poti-pherah priest of On. And Joseph went out over all the land of Egypt. 50 And unto Joseph were born two sons before the years of famine came, which Asenath the daughter of Poti-pherah priest of On bare unto him. 51 And Joseph called the name of the firstborn Manasseh: For God, said he, hath made me forget all my toil, and all my father’s house. 52 And the name of the second called he Ephraim: For God hath caused me to be fruitful in the land of my affliction.”

It’s obvious this entire scenario is plagued with contradictions.

Why would they claim to be from a tribe the Mormon god banned from its priesthood?

Why are they essentially performing séances if they’re following the true God of the Bible?

The original Christian church practiced no such ceremonies, so why does Mormonism claim to be a restoration of the original church?

Why does the Book of Abraham declare Pharaoh was righteous when evidence speaks otherwise?

Moreover, why does the Church still carry this racist canon if they’re truly not racist?

If you’re LDS, we pray you’ll investigate these things for yourself to know the truth! The true Jesus of the Bible wouldn’t want for all this confusion to go on in your life! God’s word tells us He would make one blood of all nations!

Acts 17:26 “And hath made of one blood all nations of men for to dwell on all the face of the earth…”
