How Mormonism Fools People

03 July

1 John 2:19 “They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would no doubt have continued with us: but they went out, that they might be made manifest that they were not all of us.”

Today’s post stems from two things.

1.I found this speech in the Journal of Discourses Index under the title ‘Mormon Doctrine Conforms to the Bible’. I found it to be a good example of how the Church confuses people by using God’s word to fool them.

2.A post on our Facebook page from a Mormon asked me why I can’t leave the Church alone. George Cannon’s speech is a great example of why.

FYI:  My apologies for its length. Quickly scan and save the parts you find most useful. We feel this is of such vital import, it mustn’t be overlooked, and Christians should take heed to the dangerous way this church operates. The tactics employed by Mr. Cannon are in full use today. Proof is found in the missionary knocking on your door.

This speech in its entirety could easily be considered a book because of how lengthy it is. I’ve trimmed it considerably by pulling some of statements therein. To read it in full, see link below.

Journal of Discourses 22:260-269 “President Cannon having read the whole of the 12th Chapter of the Epistle of Paul to the Corinthians, said: It is a blessed thing for us who live in this day and age to have records in our midst which have come down from olden times…as containing principles of life and of salvation…In this respect the chapter which I have read from this book is of priceless worth…

Then, why pray tell, has the Church rejected God’s word? Articles of Faith #8.

The fact that we have it, the fact that we have always had it, the fact that our forefathers always had it, at least so far as we know, has made us to a certain extent careless about it. We do not value it as we might do if our attention had been newly awakened to its existence.

Ironic isn’t it? His words are a gross understatement.

But in the Latter-day Saints it should always be a precious treasure…

Neither Mr. Cannon, nor the Church itself, believe/d this. If they did, this website wouldn’t exist.

… we can imagine that it would be much worse if we did not have it…How do you think it would have been, my brethren and sisters, if we had not had the Bible to refer to? How would it have been with many of those who passed through those scenes if they had not had the teachings of the Apostles and the words of the Savior written as we have them in the Bible…

With the existence of the LDS Church, it’s not difficult at all to imagine how much worse things may have been. Even with God’s word widely available, then and now, there are still those who reject and malign it.

With the Bible in our hands we could test all men who professed to be followers of Jesus Christ; for God has plainly said, that He is the same yesterday, today and forever; that He does not change…

Why doesn’t the Church preach this message, and why do they attack Christians who use God’s word as the measuring stick to test all men?Hebrews 13:8 means nothing to Mormonism, hence the BoM.

Now, this is a doctrine plainly taught in the Bible, and it, has been the cause of immense satisfaction to those who have espoused its doctrine, it would have been a very trying thing for us in the days of gloom through which we have passed had we not been assured in a very reliable way that God would hear and answer our prayers…

Joe Smith’s gospel is proof they don’t believe this. If they espoused doctrinal principles set forth in the Bible, the BoM wouldn’t exist.

Lastly, we see six pages later Mr. Cannon’s true colors. He spent a good deal of time lauding God’s word before he swooped in for the kill. This is a prime example of how Mormonism goes out of its way to confuse, and lead people away from Jesus, not to Him.

…p.266 Now, if a man had gone with this Bible in his hands throughout Christendom at the time the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints was organized, and inquired of the various churches respecting their organization and the gifts and blessings that Paul has described…he would have found no church corresponding to his description…” – George Q. Cannon, Salt Lake City, May 8, 1881

Pray for all Mormon to see through the lies, and for non-Mormons to steer clear of this display of pseudo-Christianity.

With Love in Christ;

Michelle
