How Mormonism Attacks Christianity

How Mormonism Attacks Christianity

“The story of the Bible’s persecution is an arresting one. During the first three centuries of the Christian era the Roman Emperors sought to destroy God’s Word. One of them, named Diocletian, believed that he had succeeded. He had slain so many Christians and destroyed so many Bibles, that when the lovers of the Bible remained quiet for a season and kept in hiding, he imagined that he had made an end of the Scriptures. So elated was he at this achievement, he ordered a medal to be struck inscribed with the words, “The Christian religion is destroyed and the worship of the gods restored.” One wonders what that emperor would think if he returned to this earth today and found that more had been written about the Bible than about any other thousand books put together, and that the Bible which enshrines the Christian faith is now translated into more than four hundred languages and is being sent out to every part of the earth!” – A.W. Pink, The Divine Inspiration of the Bible

On Palm Sunday of ‘93 my entire life changed in two ways by simply attending a church service with a Christian friend of mine here in the Seattle area.

The biggest change of course was because of the salvation I received from the Lord.  With the understanding I am not brushing over that lightly, the focus of this article is to point out the other dramatic change.  Before I left that little church the Lord impressed it upon my heart to go back up to the altar and repent for the hatred I had held in my heart towards Christians for 30 years.

I cannot speak specifically for other ex-Mormons or Mormons so hear me out when I say that I am speaking for myself only and about the doctrines of the Mormon Church.  The one thing I do know is how I felt towards “outsiders” and what I was taught as a sixth generation Mormon from Utah.

In a nutshell I would rather spit on (which I did once) or drive over a Christian than look at them.  I hated them, but didn’t know why.  I had also decided in my hard heart that I couldn’t leave the Mormon Church even with my boat-load of doubts because I was a lot of things, but I certainly didn’t want to be a whore.  Anything but that!

Now to make things even more confusing for me and everyone else, I loved being around the Christians I had come to personally know throughout my travels.  I honestly felt something different while in their presence, but couldn’t articulate why.  Hindsight is 20/20 of course and now I know it was the presence of the Holy Spirit that I had encountered!

Fast forward almost seventeen years from the time I repented for my hatred towards Christianity and here I am at the opposite end of the spectrum.  People seem to think that LAM is “anti-Mormon” and out to bash and demean people in the Mormon Church.  Nothing could be further from the truth.  Yeah, we’re anti-Mormonism, but not anti-Mormon.  I remember the confusion and what it felt like.  I truly believe the Lord reminds me of my hatred for the body of Christ to keep me humble and keep my desire to help the Mormons alive.

To begin our new year LAM received a few interesting e-mails from people who wanted to know why we would go about attacking someone of another faith.  Here is one of those notes:

Where do you get your material?  While I may not be (in any way/shape/or form) a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints…I still hate deliberate fallacies.  I would be harder pressed to compliment you on your accuracies in this page then to berate you for your inaccuracies.  I too, take a great MANY issues with the “mormon church”.  I , however, do not believe that a loving father in heaven would justify me in spewing hatred about something that either A) I don’t understand at ALL or B) I have to lie about to form any level of credulity in my outlandish claims.  Just as quick hits on some of your spewed hatred: You attack the mormons for having the belief that the first presidency will not be popular.  You do so with the justification that somehow saying they won’t be popular equates to them hating other Christians.  That’s not even a logical leap…that’s a logical cannon shot.  Not to mention you do so in the midst of this whole mormon bashing campaign site of yours.  All in all…I guess my main thesis is that while I’m not necessarily arguing the premise that maybe their church might be a little off.  Nor am I arguing the premise that they are in need of spiritual guidance.  I AM, however, arguing that you might want to do a little more ACTUAL research before making such outlandish and ridiculous accusations.  They have enough wrong with their past and doctrines that you can ACTUALLY hit on…you don’t need to attack the falsehoods you’re throwing out there.  The problem you’re creating is that you’re “arming” your fellow christians with weapons of paper mache because when they use this information as a tool to reach out to the mormon community they will just be seen as ignorant hate-mongers lashing out at what they don’t understand.  To be perceived as a christian with legitimate concern for the well-being of their souls you need ACTUAL facts…not twisted ones.  Good starting point…but you have a LONG way to go.

First of all, I may need to repent of something today or even tomorrow, but proclaiming the truth about Mormonism is not one of the reasons why.  Secondly, where in the Bible did Jesus ever repent about calling out the lies of the Pharisees?

     I am actually wondering if this person is a Mormon.  Differences within the body of Christ are generally accepted knowing that within those parameters there are basic truths we hold fast to.  Those basic truths would include;

Jesus is the only way to true salvation, Acts 4:12.

Jesus is God incarnate, John 1:1, 14.

He died on the cross for our sins to redeem mankind, Romans 5:1.

God raised His Son on the 3rd day, Romans 5:18, 1 Corinthians 15:42-44.

We are saved by grace through faith, Ephesians 2:8-9.

Sadly enough out of the five items listed, the LDS Church only believes in one of the above tenets; the resurrection of Jesus on the third day.  This e-mailer has wrongly assumed that our information is incorrect and accusatory.  I admit it is accusatory to some (1 Corinthians 1:18), but I strongly disagree it’s wrong.  Where on our website is there a lie?

All information on our site comes directly from the LDS Church.

     If there is anything on this website that is factually incorrect I will pull it immediately and offer a public apology – guaranteed.  You don’t have to like my approach or the reasons why I publish these articles and that’s okay by me, I understand fully.  If, however, you want to talk about the “attack of Mormonism” by me (a member of the body of Christ), might I suggest reading any of the articles on the site to see my true intention in addition to taking a another look at Jude 1:3-4;

Beloved, when I gave all diligence to write unto you of the common salvation, it was needful for me to write unto you, and exhort you that ye should earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints. 4 For there are certain men crept in unawares, who were before of old ordained to this condemnation, ungodly men, turning the grace of our God into lasciviousness, and denying the only Lord God, and our Lord Jesus Christ.

Joseph Smith and company have gone out of their way for almost 180 years to steal the salvation of my family and friends.  My parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, nieces, cousins, brothers, step-parents, and step-siblings have traded the truth for a lie and worshipped the creature instead of The Creator as Paul said in Romans 1:20-25.  And that fact alone absolutely breaks my heart every day of my life.

The LDS Church is quick to cry out they are being persecuted without even blinking an eye at the attack they’ve made against the body of Christ, let alone Jesus Himself.  Remember, I lived that lie for 30 years.

If we look in the annals of history we see many examples of how people have hated scripture.  From King Jehoiakim in Judah (Jeremiah 36:22-27) who burned the scrolls, to the emperor Diocletian who massacred thousands of Christians and burned scripture, and yes, even Joseph Smith who tried to disseminate the word of God by lying about its validity; there will always be those who hate God and His message.

The entire precept of Mormonism was given birth to in 1820 through the overactive imagination of an uneducated fourteen year old farm boy from upstate New York by the name of Joseph Smith.  According to Smith he went to a grove of trees to pray in order to ask God which church he should join.  History of the Church 1:5-6.

He emphatically held to the story that God told him to join none of them as they were all the wrong.  Joseph Smith Testimony 1:19.  This is a teaching the LDS Church still holds to today.  Let’s take a look at what Smith and other LDS leaders have said about the Christian church.  Below are six pages of direct quotes showing the disdain Mormons have toward the Christians and believe me when I say we haven’t even scratched the surface.

The hatred they hold towards Christianity is something that isn’t made up in my imagination and manifests itself in a prideful arrogance of superiority.  Many of the Mormons I’ve met have this sinful nature in them and it always makes me so very sad for them.

Our prayer as always is to see each and every Mormon come to a saving knowledge of Christ Jesus and Him crucified; nothing short of that will do.

With Love in Christ;

Michelle Grim

1 Cor. 1:18  …

PS:  We found out through correspondence with the person who e-mailed that he is indeed a Mormon.  After a few e-mail exchanges and outright hateful accusations with Melissa he admitted to her that he is LDS.  Whatever happened to telling the truth and loving our brothers and sisters in Christ?

1 John 2:9, 18-22, 3:14-15; “He that saith he is in the light, and hateth his brother, is in darkness even until no::w.  Little children, it is the last time: and as ye have heard that antichrist shall come, even now are there many antichrists; whereby we know that it is the last time. 19 They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would no doubt have continued with us: but they went out, that they might be made manifest that they were not all of us. 20 But ye have an unction from the Holy One, and ye know all things. 21 I have not written unto you because ye know not the truth, but because ye know it, and that no lie is of the truth. 22 Who is a liar but he that denieth that Jesus is the Christ? He is antichrist, that denieth the Father and the Son.

We know that we have passed from death unto life, because we love the brethren. He that loveth not his brother abideth in death. 15 Whosoever hateth his brother is a murderer: and ye know that no murderer hath eternal life abiding in him.

LDS Scripture

1 Nephi 13:5-6; And the angel said unto me: Behold the formation of a church which is most abominable above all other churches, which slayeth the saints of God, yea, and tortureth them and bindeth them down, and yoketh them with a yoke of iron, and bringeth them down into captivity. 6 And it came to pass that I beheld this great and abominable church; and I saw the devil that he was the founder of it.

1 Nephi 14:10;And he said unto me: Behold there are save two churches only; the one is the church of the Lamb of God, and the other is the church of the devil; wherefore, whoso belongeth not to the church of the Lamb of God belongeth to that great church, which is the mother of abominations; and she is the whore of all the earth.

Doctrines & Covenants 1:30;And also those to whom these commandments were given, might have power to lay the foundation of this church, and to bring it forth out of obscurity and out of darkness, the only true and living church upon the face of the whole earth, with which I, the Lord, am well pleased, speaking unto the church collectively and not individually—

Doctrine & Covenants 112:23;Verily, verily, I say unto you, darkness covereth the earth, and gross darkness the minds of the people, and all flesh has become corrupt before my face.

Sermons & Books Written by LDS Authorities

Articles of Faith, pg. 181; A self-suggesting interpretation of history indicates that there has been a great departure from the way of salvation as laid down by the Savior, a universal apostasy from the Church of Christ. Scarcely had the Church been organized by the Savior, whose name it bears, before the powers of darkness arrayed themselves for conflict with the organized body.” – James Talmage – 1984

Brigham Young and the Bible; Unpublished Brigham Young Discourse, LDS General Conference, October 8, 1854; There are many duties, and callings spoken [of] in the scriptures, and there are many not written. Those, for instance, which are handed out to you by your President as circumstances require. Those imposed by the President of the Church of God, or by the President of any portion of it, are duties necessary to be observed as though they were written in the Bible; but these requirements, duties, callings etc. are changed with the circumstances that surround the people of God…

I think these preliminaries will satisfy me, and I feel prepared to take my text: it is the words of (p. 6) Jesus Christ, but where they are in the Bible I cannot tell you now, for I have not taken the pains to look at them. I have had as much to do, that I have not read the Bible for many years. I used to be a Bible student; I used to read and study it, but did not understand the spirit and meaning of it, I knew well enough how it read. I have read the Book of Mormon, the Book of Doctrine and Covenants, and other revelations of God which [He] has given to his people in latter times; I look at them and contrast the spirit and power of them with my faithfulness. My clerks know how much time I have to read, it is difficult for me to snatch time enough even to eat my breakfast and supper, to say nothing of reading.

Bruce McConkie Public Discourse on the Joseph Smith Translation: The Restoration of Plain and Precious Things, pgs. 12-14; “…But the Book of Mormon remains secure, unchanged and unchangeable, a firm and steady witness of Christ and his doctrine. The Book of Mormon has been, is now, and will forever remain secure in the hands of the servants of the Lord…But with the Bible it was not and is not so.  It is now in the hands of intellectuals and unbelievers…And it once was in the sole and exclusive care and custody of an abominable organization, founded by the devil himself, likened prophetically unto a great whore, whose great aim and purpose was to destroy the souls of men in the name of religion As to latter-day revelation, as found in the Doctrine and Covenants and in the Pearl of Great Price, we have no problem. Since the Book of Mormon is true, it follows that Joseph Smith was a prophet, and hence it is easy to believe his revelations.  Where the Bible is concerned, things get a little sticky. Of course we believe it—always specifying the King James Version—but there is the reservation about parts not being translated correctly. And in some minds there seems to be a nagging uncertainty about the so-called Inspired Version.” – Monte S. Nyman, Charles D. Tate, Jr., 1985

Conference Report, April 1961, pg. 119; This Church is the standard which Isaiah said the Lord would set up for the people in the latter days. This Church was given to be a light to the world and to be a standard for God’s people and for the Gentiles to seek to. This Church is the ensign on the mountain spoken of by the Old Testament prophets. It is the way, the truth, and the life.” – Marion Romney

Discourses of Brigham Young, pg. 107; The Restoration—Generations have come and gone without the privilege of hearing the sound of the Gospel, which has come to you through Joseph Smith—that was revealed to him from heaven by angels and visions. We have the Gospel and the keys of the holy Priesthood. 7:173.” –

Discourses of the Prophet Joseph Smith, pg. 220; Those Who Reject the Gospel to Be Damned

[Observe]…Christendom at the present day, and where are they, with all their boasted religion, piety, and sacredness while at the same time they are crying out against prophets, apostles, angels, revelations, prophesying and visions, etc. Why, they are just ripening for the damnation of hell. They will be damned…Yes, I say, such will be damned, with all their professed godliness. (HC 5:389.)

Doctrinal New Testament Commentary, 3:551; The church of the devil is the world; it is all the carnality and evil to which fallen man is heir; it is every unholy and wicked practice; it is every false religion, every supposed system of salvation which does not actually save and exalt man in the highest heaven of the celestial world. It is every church except the true church, whether parading under a Christian or a pagan banner. As Moroni will say in a later era of Nephite history, and as we shall ascertain in our evaluation of Rev. 18:1–24, it is ‘secret combinations,’ oath-bound societies, and the great world force of Godless communism. (Ether 8:14–26.)”. – Elder Bruce R. McConkie, 1973

Doctrines of Salvation 3:283; For hundreds of years the world was wrapped in a veil of spiritual darkness, until there was not one fundamental truth belonging to the plan of salvation that was not, in the year 1820, so obscured by false tradition and ceremonies, borrowed from paganism, as to make it unrecognizable; or else it was entirely denied. By heavenly direction and command of our Lord Jesus Christ, Joseph Smith restored all these principles in their primitive beauty and power.” – Joseph Fielding Smith, 1954

Elder’s Journal, Vol. 1, No. 4, August 1838, pg. 60; “...all the priests who adhere to the sectarian religions of the day with all their followers, without one exception, receive their portion with the devil and his angels.” – Prophet Joseph Smith

Encyclopedia of Joseph Smith’s Teachings, pg. 56; We believe that no man can administer salvation through the gospel, to the souls of men, in the name of Jesus Christ, except he is authorized from God…

Ensign, December 1985, pg. 25; All historical Christian churches agree that revelation for the direction of the church ceased with the last of the apostles,” one author has written. History shows, in fact, that after the first century, church leaders, in order to decide important issues, could not (and did not) appeal to heaven for authoritative direction because they did not possess the keys of the kingdom.” – Andrew C. Skinner

Fourteen Fundamentals in Following the Prophet, #1; The prophet is the only man who speaks for the Lord in everything.” – Ezra Taft Benson, February 26, 1980

Gospel Doctrine, pg. 137; The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is no partisan Church. It is not a sect. It is The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. It is the only one today existing in the world that can and does legitimately bear the name of Jesus Christ and his divine authority.” – Joseph F. Smith 6th President of LDS Church, 1919

Gospel Ideals, pg. 66;TRUE CHRISTIANITY. True Christianity—by which I mean the sublime truths of life as taught by the Savior of men, and his authorized Church—had not been upon the earth for many centuries. That organization men rejected by killing the servants whom Christ authorized to preach his gospel. Following their death, men substituted for the heaven-inspired Church an organization which gave glittering promises of truth and salvation…” – David O. McKay 9th President of LDS Church, 1953

Gospel Kingdom, pgs. 42-43; Hence, one introduced and taught one principle, and another introduced and taught another; and they were split up and divided, and the spirit of antagonism was found at times among them; and with all their desires to do good, they did not and could not restore the gospel of the Son of God.” – John Taylor 3rd president of LDS Church

Gospel Standards, pg. 98; Inasmuch as the Church to which you and I belong is the Church of Jesus Christ, established by the Savior Himself through the instrumentality of the Prophet Joseph Smith, I do not think we need to worry about being admitted into the various Christian denominations. The one thing that you and I need to worry about, and the only thing, is with regard to keeping the commandments of the Lord, living our religion as Latter-day Saints.—CR, October, 1931: 4-5.” – Heber J. Grant

Gospel Truth, pg. 324; After the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints was organized, there were only two churches upon the earth. They were known respectively as the Church of the Lamb of God and Babylon. The various organizations which are called churches throughout Christendom, though differing in their creeds and organizations, have one common origin. They all belong to Babylon.” – George Q. Cannon

History of the Church 1:5-6; No sooner, therefore, did I get possession of myself, so as to be able to speak, than I asked the personages who stood above me in the light, which of all the sects was right—and which I should join. I was answered that I must join none of them, for they were all wrong, and the personage who addressed me said that all their creeds were an abomination in His sight: that those professors were all corrupt; that “they draw near to me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me.

Introduction to the Gospel, pg. 314; Men had made, we believe, fundamental changes in the doctrines, purposes, and practices of the Pristine Gospel and Church. There had been an apostasy, or a falling away from the true character of Christ’s teachings in the centuries which followed the Apostolic age.” – Lowell L. Bennion, 1955

Jesus the Christ, pg. 692; For over seventeen hundred years on the eastern hemisphere, and for more than fourteen centuries on the western, there appears to have been silence between the heavens and the earth…The passing of the apostles was followed by the rapid development of a universal apostasy as had been foreseen and predicted.” – James Talmage, 1983

Journal of Discourses 2:196-197; “I do not wish to be understood that we are now living in a dark age of the world, but for the last fourteen hundred years the world have been enveloped in darkness, in which wickedness has ruled, and the powers of darkness have prevailed among the children of men, and the nations have been bound down by false traditions, and incorrect principles, but the day has now dawned, the dark clouds have now broken up and soon will pass away, and the sun of righteousness will arise in its glory, and show forth the light of heaven; and for that I am thankful…” – Wilford Woodruff, February 25, 1855, Salt Lake City

Journal of Discourses 3:41; Though Mahometan institutions are corrupt enough, and need reforming by the Gospel, I am inclined to think, upon the whole, leaving out the corruptions of men in high places among them, that they have better morals and better institutions than many Christian nations and in many localities there have been high standards of morals.” – Parley Pratt, September 23, 1855, Salt Lake City

Journal of Discourses 4:217; I have frequently thought of mules, which you know are half horse and half ass, when reflecting upon the representations made by those divines. I have heard sectarian priests undertake to tell the character of the Son of God, and they make him half of one species and half of another, and I could not avoid thinking at once of the mule, which is the most hateful creature that ever was made, I believe. You will excuse me, but I have thus thought many a time.” – Brigham Young, February 8, 1857, Salt Lake City

Journal of Discourses 5:73-74;The Christian world, I discovered, was like the captain and crew of a vessel on the ocean without a compass, and tossed to and fro whithersoever the wind listed to blow them. When the light came to me, I saw that all the so-called Christian world was grovelling in darkness.” – Brigham Young, July 26, 1857, Salt Lake City

Journal of Discourses 5:90;Christians—those poor, miserable priests brother Brigham was speaking about—some of them are the biggest whoremasters there are on the earth, and at the same time preaching righteousness to the children of men. The poor devils, they could not get up here and preach an oral discourse, to save themselves from hell; they are preaching their fathers’ sermons—preaching sermons that were written a hundred years before they were born.” – Heber C. Kimball, July 26, 1857, Salt Lake City, Utah

Journal of Discourses 6:167; There is not nation now that acknowledges that hand of God; there is not a king, potentate, nor ruler that acknowledges his jurisdiction. We talk about Christianity, but it is a perfect pack of nonsense…Myself and hundreds of the Elders around me have seen its pomp, parade, and glory; and what is it? It is a sounding brass and a tinkling symbol; it is as corrupt as hell; and the Devil could not invent a better engine to spread his work that the Christianity of the nineteenth century.” – John Taylor, January 17, 1858, Salt Lake City

Journal of Discourses 6:176;Brother Taylor has just said that the religions of the day were hatched in hell. The eggs were laid in hell, hatched on its borders, and then kicked on to the earth.” – Brigham Young, January 17, 1858, Salt Lake City

Journal of Discourses 8:171, 199; The Christian world, so called, are heathens as to their knowledge of the salvation of God. If those nations that we call heathen were civilized as we are, intelligent as we are, we would not call them heathen… With regard to true theology, a more ignorant people never lived than the present so-called Christian world.” – Brigham Young, October 7, 1860, Salt Lake City

Journal of Discourses 8:177; “…I will now give my scripture—”Whosoever confesseth that Joseph Smith was sent of God to reveal the holy Gospel to the children of men, and lay the foundation for gathering Israel, and building up the kingdom of God on the earth, that spirit of God; and every spirit that does not confess that God has sent Joseph Smith, and revealed the everlasting Gospel to and through him, is of Anti-christ” – Brigham Young, September 9, 1860, Salt Lake City

Journal of Discourses 10:127; Where shall we look for the true order or authority of God? It cannot be found in any nation of Christendom.” – John Taylor, March 1, 1863, Salt Lake City

Journal of Discourses 13:225-226; What does the Christian world know about God? Nothing; yet these very men assume the right and power to tell others what they shall and what they shall not believe in.” – John Taylor, May 6, 1870, Salt Lake City

Journal of Discourses 14:346; This class of men, calling themselves Christian, uniting with the various forms of the pagan religion, adopting many of their ceremonies and institutions, became very popular, and finally some of the pagans embraced Christianity and were placed, as it were, upon the throne, and what they termed Christianity became very popular indeed. How long has this order of things existed, this dreadful apostacy, this class of people that pronounced themselves Zion, or Christians, without any of the characteristics of Zion? It has existed for some sixteen or seventeen centuries.” – Orson Pratt, March 10, 1872, Salt Lake City

Journal of Discourses 14:347-348; Go to all these 666 different Protestant denominations that have come out from the mother Church, and inquire of them, Have you inspired men among you? and their united voice is that God speaks no more in our day… We enquire, “What have you?” “Oh we have 666 different denominations and we have surnamed ourselves Christians. We are Bible Christians.” How mistaken they are…Bible Christians could converse with the Lord, and oftentimes beheld the face of Jesus…but inquire for these characteristics among these 666 different Christian denominations and they will tell you they are all gone, they have not any of them amongst them. Now suppose we take their word for it! I do, I really believe them. I think they tell the truth when they say they have no inspired men.” – Orson Pratt, March 10, 1872

Journal of Discourses 18:172;But as there has been no Christian Church on the earth for a great many centuries past, until the present century, the people have lost sight of the pattern that God has given according to which the Christian Church should be established, and they have denominated a great variety of people Christian Churches, because they profess to be.” – Orson Pratt, March 26, 1876

Journal of Discourses 18:215; There are only two churches on the earth—only two parties. God leads the one, the devil the other.” – Orson Pratt, March 26, 1872, Salt Lake City

Journal of Discourses 22:44-45; “…but the time came when Paganism was engrafted into Christianity, and at last Christianity was converted into Paganism rather than converting the Pagans. And subsequently the Priesthood was taken from among men, this authority was re-called into the heavens, and the world was left without the Priesthood—without the power of God—without the Church and Kingdom of God.” – President Joseph F. Smith, February 6, 1881, Logan, Utah

Journal of Discourses 24:185; I do not wish to say anything in relation to other forms of religion; I do not know that it is necessary that I should do so; but no thinking man can admit that Christianity so-called—I call it a false Christianity, untrue to its name—satisfies the wants of humanity at the present time.” – George Q. Cannon, July 15, 1883, Salt Lake City

Learning for the Eternities, pg. 107-108;When the Prophet Joseph Smith was asked the difference between the Latter-day Saint Church and the sectarian churches of the world, he said, “We have the Holy Ghost,” by which he meant that by the power of the Holy Ghost the will of our Father is revealed to the minds of the leaders of the Church. So I repeat, What the prophet says is what the Lord would say if he were here, and it is scripture.” – Marion Romney, 1977

Millennial Messiah, pg. 56; The church of the devil is every evil and worldly organization on earth. It is all of the systems, both Christian and non-Christian, that have perverted the pure and perfect gospel; it is all of the governments and powers that run counter to the divine will; it is the societies and political parties and labor unions that sow strife and reap contention. It is communism; it is Islam; it is Buddhism; it is modern Christianity in all its parts. It is Germany under Hitler, Russia under Stalin, and Italy under Mussolini. It is the man of sin speaking in churches, orating in legislative halls, and commanding the armies of men.” – Bruce McConkie, 1982

Mormon Doctrine, pg. 269; “…virtually all the millions of apostate christendom have abased themselves before the mythical throne of a mythical Christ whom they vainly suppose to be a spirit essence who is incorporeal uncreated, immaterial and three-in-one with the Father and Holy Spirit.” – Bruce McConkie, 1966

Mormon Doctrine on Deity, pg. 116; “…the orthodox Christians and Mr. V. may find their God of pure “being,” that never is “becoming,” but always is; also the creation of the universe out of nothing. The fact is that orthodox Christian views of God are Pagan rather than Christian.” – B.H. Roberts, LDS Church Historian, December 1903

Scrapbook of Mormon Literature, Vol. 1, pg. 86; Now, it is plain that men have denied immediate revelation for many hundred years past, consequently have not received it, and therefore could not have been sent of God to administer in the fulness of the Gospel.” – Ben Rich, 1849 (?)

“What Happened to Christ’s Church?” Liahona, Feb 2005, 12; Fewer than 400 years after the death of the Savior, the Church as Jesus organized it was nowhere to be found in the whole world…The New Testament Apostles and Book of Mormon disciples were gone. And gone with them was the authority to administer the Church and to hold the priesthood…With the death of the Apostles, priesthood keys, or the presiding priesthood authority, were taken from the earth…Over time doctrines were corrupted and unauthorized changes were made in Church organization and priesthood ordinances.” – Shanna Butler

Teachings of Ezra Taft Benson, pg. 164-165; This is not just another Church. This is not just one of a family of Christian churches. This is the Church and kingdom of God, the only true Church upon the face of the earth, according to the Lord’s own words (see D&C 1:30).” – 1988

Teachings of the Prophet Joseph Smith, pg. 270; What is it that inspires professors of Christianity generally with a hope of salvation? It is that smooth, sophisticated influence of the devil, by which he deceives the whole world.

The Great Apostasy, pgs. 18-19;We affirm that with the passing of the so-called apostolic age the Church gradually drifted into a condition of apostasy, whereby succession in the priesthood was broken; and that the Church, as an earthly organization operating under divine direction and having authority to officiate in spiritual ordinances, ceased to exist.” – James Talmage – 1958

The Seer, pg. 111; Must we, under the broad folds of the American Constitution, be compelled to bow down to the narrow contracted notions of Apostate Christianity…Must we be slaves to custom and render homage to the soul-destroying, sickening influences of modern Christianity? No!” – Orson Pratt (Apostle)

The Seer, pg. 255; ““Both Catholics and Protestants are nothing less than the ‘whore of Babylon’ whom the Lord denounces …as having corrupted all the earth by their fornications and wickedness.  And any person who shall be so wicked as to receive a holy ordinance of the gospel from the ministers of any of these apostate churches will be sent down to hell with them, unless they repent of the unholy and impious act.”— Orson Pratt (Apostle)

Thanks so much for your kind words! It is indeed a sad fact about the Church. Mormons do seem nice when you first meet them so exposing what’s really going on in their hearts with many of them, I believe, is imperative for the Christian to know. Mormons want to come across as just another Christian denomination and the body of Christ needs to know the truth.

I was just fired from my job yesterday. The business is run by a Mormon Bishop and his wife. Throughout my short employment with the company I could feel so much hatred directed towards me.
I brought my Bible to work yesterday and was reading it at lunch. The wife saw me reading it. At the end of the day they terminated my employment with no legitimate reason. I asked her why, and she just said “I am unable to tell you. All I can say is we’re going in a different direction”.
      Now I see why…
