Hinckley: LDS Teachings are Unchanging

24 October

Ensign, ‘True to the Faith,’ June 1996 “This work stands as an anchor of stability, an anchor of values, in a world whose values are shifting. We stand for something. Our values find their roots in the teachings of the gospel of Jesus Christ. These are unchanging. They are today as they were when Jesus walked the earth. They are as applicable now as they were then. They have been tested in the cauldron of human history, and they have not been found wanting.” – Gordon B. Hinckley

Matthew 7:24 “Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock”.

A quick review reveals Mr. Hinckley’s lies. The Church’s values are not found in Jesus’ gospel, and here’s why ~

1 ~ The Church’s teachings are always evolving, and have been since its inception. The race, and polygamy issues come to mind. The Church prides itself on this standard so why did Hinckley say they’re unchanging?

2 ~ The Church’s teachings are not what was being taught at the time of Jesus. The Lord never taught men could be gods.

3 ~ The ‘cauldron’ of human history? Why did Hinckley use this particular word? I’m immediately thinking of witches, and witchcraft when this word is used. It’s no coincidence, considering this religion was founded upon such things!

4 ~ Contrary to what Hinckley said, the Church’s gospel has been found ‘wanting’. Its premiere canon (BoM) is missing key doctrinal issues found in Mormonism; godhood, polygamy, temple garments, et al.

The reason we’re looking at this particular speech is because of its familiarity and continued use amongst the Mormon community. As I was looking around for a quote earlier in the month, this talk kept coming up in the search results as the go-to standard of references in the Church’s curriculum.

Please, pray for those attending the Sunday classes! We’re praying Jesus opens their eyes to the blasphemy, and reminds them of what He’s already taught – 1 Cor. 15:1-4.

With Love in Christ;

Michelle
