Journal of Discourses 20:211; “God revealed to him (Joseph Smith) not only the fact of Divine existence, but even how he became God; that it was through living up to correct principles, and by developing within himself every sublime sentiment that had its origin in truth. He taught him how the people “who dwelt on the earth” might also be thus exalted to be angels of God, and finally Gods themselves” – C. W. Stayner, Salt Lake City, May 25th, 1879.
Galatians 4:9; “But now, after that ye have known God, or rather are known of God, how turn ye again to the weak and beggarly elements, whereunto ye desire again to be in bondage?”
1 Corinthians 14:33; “For God is not the author of confusion, but of peace, as in all churches of the saints.”
To our dear Mormon friends –
Yesterday we saw a Mormon teaching on how Adam turned into a man after being Michael the Archangel, and now we see a teaching where men will be exalted to angels, and ‘finally gods themselves’.
Now in all sincerity, does this sound biblical to you?
What have you been taught to believe about events that will take place after you die? Have you ever stopped to ponder how long it’ll be until you’re in an ideal Mormon ‘families are forever’ setting? Why do they have so many conflicting stories? The Bible tells us God is not a God of confusion!
According to what Mr. Stayner said here, it’s going to be a lot longer than you may have thought.
Furthermore, we know from what God tells us in His word there is no such thing as men becoming angels, or vice versa. See ChristianAnswers.net Moreover, it’s outright blasphemy to believe, let alone teach, that men can become gods.
Isaiah 43:10-11 says He is the only God and He knows of no other gods
Isaiah 45:5 says He’s the only God
1 Timothy 2:5 says there’s only One God
This is only 3 verses where God says the same thing, but make no mistake my friend, the theme throughout the Bible is the same. There is only One God. To see a list of 95 verses where the Bible says there is only One God, seeOpenBible.info.
We’re praying you’ll read what Jeremiah said and trust that our God will indeed show you personally who He is!
Jeremiah 33:3; “Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and shew thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not.”
