False Prophecies of the Mormon Church

False Prophecy of Parley Pratt

Today we’re highlighting a false prophecy by Parley Pratt. Who is Parley Pratt? Mr. Pratt was at one time Joseph Smith’s right hand, go to guy. He joined Mormonism in 1830 and became an apostle five years later.

Mr. Pratt was a polygamist with twelve wives, thirty children and 266 grandchildren. He was murdered in 1857 by Hector McLean. Pratt talked McLean’s wife into joining Mormonism and marrying him to become his twelfth wife. While details vary it’s believed McLean hunted Pratt down and killed him in revenge for ruining his family.

Many theorize the Mountain Meadows Massacre later that same year was in retaliation for Pratt’s death in Arkansas. The Christian caravan traveling through Southern Utah originated from Arkansas.

Pratt is the great-great-great grandfather of none other than Mitt Romney and his cousin Jon Huntsman who was also a presidential candidate for the 2012 POTUS election.

On to the false prophecy that’s very telling. It just goes to show you the prophets of the Mormon Church weren’t the only ones who opened their mouth to deceive people.

In the Mormon publication Mormonism Unveiled (pg 14-15), written by Parley Pratt it says;

“Now, Mr. Sunderland…I will state as a prophecy, that there will not be an unbelieving Gentile upon this continent 50 years hence; and if they are not greatly scourged, and in a great measure overthrown, within five or ten years from this date, then the Book of Mormon will have proved itself false.”

This false prophecy was actually what I refer to as a two-fer. In one fell swoop you’re getting two false prophecies in one.

First of all the “Gentiles upon this continent” were still around fifty years later. Secondly, the Book of Mormon was proven false the moment it escaped from the mouth of Joseph Smith.
