False Prophecies of Mormonism

Trusting Scripture or Man?

Church News, June 20, 1992; “The most reliable way to measure the accuracy of any biblical passage is not by comparing different texts, but by comparison with the Book of Mormon and modern-day revelations.” – “Letter Reaffirms Use of King James Version of Bible”, Presidents Benson, Hinckley and Monson http://www.ldschurchnews.com/articles/22533/Letter-reaffirms-use-of-King-James-version-of-Bible.html

Matthew 5:18; “For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.”

When Jesus Himself said that not one jot or tittle would pass away what does it mean for you and for me?

Does it mean that by some ingenious stroke of luck Joseph Smith just so happened to be born at a specific time to come in and save the day for all of humanity?

Or could Jesus’ promise to us be the miraculous work of God in that He preserved His word and His Son came at the appointed time to save humanity?

Why did God go to all the trouble of sending His Son if people had to wait for Smith to come along to gain real truth?

The Book of Mormon has proven itself to be unreliable on many fronts. There’s no archaeological proof and language patterns are out of context.  While the BoM uses Greek and Latin, the use of each predates the initial use of Koine Greek, circa 326 BC (not by average citizens but rulers), and Latin which was used as early as the Roman Republic in 510 BC.

The use of French in the book of Jacob is another indication something is amiss. French was first used at the far western regions of the European Continent around 700 AD and Jacob lived circa 421 BC.

By that time the Nephites had sailed to America and left ancient Israel by 600 BC. This doesn’t take into account the Jaredites who supposedly lived circa 2200 BC, some 1,700 years before Latin was first used.

My opinion on this site is that people who out right disrespect and put other people’s faith and church down can only be lead by one spirit and that spirit is not from God because God is not a putting down and disrespectful God. He is love. God bless.

      Napuakaa –

In your opinion did Joseph Smith respect or disrespect Christianity and those who follow Jesus “according to their dictates”?

In your opinion is it respectful or disrespectful when the Mormon missionary knocks on a door and the person answering tells them they’re Christian and the missionary says that’s great but let me tell you what D&C 1:30? It tells us that Smith came along to bring Christianity out of obscurity and darkness.

In your opinion Napuakaa what did Jesus mean when He said He would never leave or desert us in Hebrews 13:5? If this statement is true then what about D&C 1:30?

What do we do now? Here we have Jesus telling us one thing and Joseph Smith another.

What I’ve done is go straight to the original source. I looked at everything available that either backed up what Jesus said or condemned it. I compared those things with Joseph Smith’s claims.

I discovered that the Bible is reliable. I could trust and use it in my daily life and there were no “plain and precious” things missing from it. Which by the way is a bold claim by Joseph Smith and curiously enough he didn’t say exactly what was missing or exactly who mistranslated the Bible. They were just accusations with no substance or historical, verifiable proof.

We’re not here to bad-mouth or bash the Mormon people. Most of us here were very devoted to the Church and our heritage. Some of us (me included) were born and raised in the Church and Utah. Others (Melissa for one) were temple Mormons and in the church for 13 years or more. Still others that volunteer for me were in the church for 45 years Napuakaa and lost their entire family for the sake of Jesus.

If you feel there’s anything on this site that is historically wrong or a misprint don’t hesitate to let me know and I’ll fix it. However, I’m not removing any article that is based upon real research and real proof of what any church leader did or said.

      We’re praying for you!
      Michelle
