Creation of Adam and Eve: LDS v. Bible

09 March

Stake Conference, Maricopa Stake, December 7, 1913; “I know that God is a being with body, parts, and passions and that His Son is in His own likeness, and that man is created in the image of God. The Son, Jesus Christ, grew and developed into manhood the same as you or I, as likewise did God, His Father grow and develop to the Supreme Being that He now is.

Man was born of woman; Christ the Savior, was born of woman and God, the Father, was born of woman. Adam, our earthly parent, was also born of woman into this world, the same as Jesus and you and I.” – Joseph F. Smith, quoted in Deseret Evening News, December 27, 1913, Sec. III, p. 7; Also Deseret News: Church Section, September 19, 1936, p. 2, 8, as well as Doctrinal Commentary on the Pearl of Great Price, p. 179, by Hyrum Andrus.

Genesis 1:27; “So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.”
Genesis 2:722; “And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul. 22 And the rib, which the LORD God had taken from man, made he a woman, and brought her unto the man.”

Our Lord’s version of events differs greatly from what the LDS Church says.

Joseph F. Smith was the 6th Prophet/president of the LDS Church. Interestingly enough, his opinion on the creation of Adam was in complete opposition to his own son, Joseph Fielding Smith, who was the 10th Prophet/president of the LDS Church. Hie son’s view was much more conservative, running along the same lines of a biblical creation.

That said, however, the older prophet’s view was hardcore Mormon theology.

If you’re LDS which prophet do you believe?

The safest account of Adam’s creation is found in the Bible, beloved! We pray that you’ll trust God, and not man.

With Love in Christ;

Michelle
