BRIGHAM’S VIRGIN BIRTH BLASPHEMY

24 July

Luke 1:34-35 “Then said Mary unto the angel, How shall this be, seeing I know not a man? 35 And the angel answered and said unto her, The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee: therefore also that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God.”

The excerpt below comes from the quarterly magazine, Dialogue, A Journal of Mormon Thought. Their articles reflect a side of Mormonism faithful members of the Church typically don’t read because it’s not ‘faith promoting’, and/or they simply don’t know about them.

I’m using the essay of David John Buerger for two reasons.

1.It’s a good example of how the Church retro-engineers their published articles.

2.It shows how the Church refuses to publish all sermons of their leaders, and holds onto them in their ‘archives collection’. Today’s example is case in point.

Dialogue A Journal of Mormon Thought, Vol. 15, No. 1, Spring 1982, p. 18 “When I [Brigham Young] spoke upon it in this stand before a conference of Elders, I cautioned them when they laid their hands upon the people for the gift of the H Ghost, according to the instructions of the Savior, to be very careful how they laid hands upon young women for if it begat a child in the days of the virgin Mary it is just as liable to beget children in these last days.” – February 19, 1854, Brigham Young Collection, LDS Archives

Mr. Buerger’s article is a great read if you’re interested in finding out how and why, the Church hides their past. My interest in his essay was to retrieve info on Brigham’s doctrines regarding Jesus’ birth. Little did I know they went to such extremes to rewrite entire manuals on the Adam-God doctrine. Good grief… With that aside, one needn’t wonder any longer about Brigham’s thoughts on Jesus’ paternity.

It wasn’t the first time Young had interjected his baneful beliefs on one of God’s biggest miracles. Degrading the Lord in such a way should give every Mormon pause about the validity of Brigham’s calling as a prophet of God. He had done so previously in 1852. See What Mormons Think of the Virgin Mary.

It’s hard to say which was worse…Young’s doctrines of Jesus’ birth, or teaching that Adam was God.

Pray for Mormons to leave this habitual web of lies!

With Love in Christ;

Michelle
