Bible has Fewer Prophecies than BoM?
Matthew 24:23 “Then if any man shall say unto you, Lo, here is Christ, or there; believe it not.”
Journal of Discourses 16:55-56; “On the 24th page, speaking of the coming forth of these records, the angel said to Nephi, “The book that thou beholdest is a record of the Jews, which contains the covenants of the Lord, which he hath made unto the house of Israel; and it also containeth many of the prophecies of the holy Prophets; and it is a record like unto the engravings which are upon the plates of brass, save there are not so many.” That is, there are not so many prophecies and revelations contained in the Jewish Bible of our day as there were upon the plates of brass. Nevertheless they contained the covenants of the Lord, which he has made with the House of Israel; therefore they are of great worth unto the children of men.” – Orson Pratt, Ogden, Utah, May 18, 1873
2 John 1:7, 9-11; “For many deceivers are entered into the world, who confess not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh. This is a deceiver and an antichrist. 9 Whosoever transgresseth, and abideth not in the doctrine of Christ, hath not God. He that abideth in the doctrine of Christ, he hath both the Father and the Son. 10 If there come any unto you, and bring not this doctrine, receive him not into your house, neither bid him God speed: 11 For he that biddeth him God speed is partaker of his evil deeds.”
The LDS Church has historically gone out of its way to malign the body of Christ from the first day Joseph Smith set his mind on the idea of creating Mormonism. They drop little comments that are seemingly inconsequential, however, the
Let’s quickly compare the evidence:
The reference above said,
‘…it is a record like unto the engravings which are upon the plates of brass, save there are not so many…’
What exactly does this mean? If Nephi was holding the book which were like the engravings, where are they, and why doesn’t he have them now? How does Mr. Pratt know these things if he hasn’t seen them? Furthermore, no definitive number of how many prophecies are in the BoM is ever given. This is just another generality the Church has thrown out there with no proof to back up their claim.
