Being One in Jesus v. Joseph

General Conference, ‘ Apart, but Still One,’ October 2017 “In the Church, in spite of our differences, the Lord expects us to be one! He said in the Doctrine and Covenants, “Be one; and if ye are not one ye are not mine.” As we all enter a meetinghouse to worship as a group, we should leave behind our differences, including race, social status, political preferences, and academic and professional achievements, and instead concentrate on our common spiritual objectives.” –– Joni L. Koch

John 17:21-23 “That they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me. 22 And the glory which thou gavest me I have given them; that they may be one, even as we are one; 23 I in them, and thou in me, that they may be made perfect in one; and that the world may know that thou hast sent me, and hast loved them, as thou hast loved me.”

On January 2, 1831 Joseph Smith lifted part of the Lord’s Great High Priestly Prayer from John 17 and amended it for his own self serving purposes. Now we see Mr. Koch doing the same thing when he referenced Smith’s false prophecy in Doctrine and Covenants 38:27.

Jesus’ prayer at the Passover Meal in the Upper Room was a huge teaching moment for His disciples, and now for us as well. This was no ordinary prayer. The prayer included information Mormons must reject in order to continue Smith’s lies. Hence, the dissemination, and total twisting of its meaning. The Church rejects the Trinity in believing God is a resurrected man who sired Jesus. Moreover, the Holy Spirit is waiting for a body, and cannot live inside of mankind. D&C 130:22-23.

It’s always important for Christians to heed Jesus’ words, and we mustn’t forget that context is king! If we reject some of the Bible, how can we deem any of it trustworthy? Mormons have busied themselves with themselves. It’s reminiscent of what Oswald Chambers said,

“When we become advocates of a creed, something dies; we do not believe God, we only believe our belief about Him.”

Share the truth with the Mormon you know, and ask if they believe Jesus, or Joseph.

With Love in Christ;

Michelle
