Be Ready to Shed Blood

05 March

Journal of Discourses 6:34 “… I do not consider God is so anxious that we should be bloodthirsty men,,, … God designs we should be pure men, holding the oracles of God in holy and pure vessels; but when it is necessary that blood should be shed, we should be as ready to do that as to eat an apple. That is my religion…” — Heber C. Kimball, Great Salt Lake City, November 8, 1857

Psalm 51:10 “Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me.”

One of the things that captured my heart after I became a Christian was how many hymns were based on phrases and/or verses found in the Bible. It was refreshing, and humbling at the same time.

The song ‘Create in Me a Clean Heart’ was one of the first songs I learned after my conversion, and instantly became part of my daily prayer life.

I so longed to replace Mormon hymns with Christian ones filled with what God wanted for me. The ex-Mormons I’ve spoken with have also commented how surprised they were at discovering the same thing I did. It’s heartbreaking to know how deep Satan’s lies have penetrated into the very fiber of their lives.

Most unfortunately, the hardness in Mr. Kimball’s heart was passed on down to subsequent generations. We see it in their refusal to denounce their false teachers, a refusal to accept the true Jesus of the Bible, and the animosity towards ‘anti-Mormons’. His words portray a detachment from reality, and what our Lord wants for us.

Pray that Jesus intervenes so these dear people will come to a saving knowledge of Christ Jesus and Him crucified!

With Love in Christ;

Michelle
