Baptisms for Dead = Usurping Jesus’ Judgment

17 September

General Conference, ‘Sharing Your Light,’ October 2014; “We will not be raising the dead as did the Savior, but we can bless the dead by finding their names for temple work. Then we will indeed raise them from their spirit prison and offer them the path of eternal life.” — Neill F. Marriott

There are several verses in the Bible where the Mormon doctrine of baptizing dead people is proven wrong.

When you’re witnessing to Mormon friends/loved ones be sure to share some, or all, of the following things God has to say about the necromancy Mormons encumber themselves with, and in turn lead people away from God!

Luke 16:25-31; “…Abraham said, Son, remember that thou in thy lifetime receivedst thy good things, and likewise Lazarus evil things: but now he is comforted, and thou art tormented. 26 And beside all this, between us and you there is a great gulf fixed: so that they which would pass from hence to you cannot; neither can they pass to us, that would come from thence. 27 Then he said, I pray thee therefore, father, that thou wouldest send him to my father’s house: 28 For I have five brethren; that he may testify unto them, lest they also come into this place of torment. 29 Abraham saith unto him, They have Moses and the prophets; let them hear them. 30 And he said, Nay, father Abraham: but if one went unto them from the dead, they will repent. 31 And he said unto him, If they hear not Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded, though one rose from the dead.”

Ecclesiastes 9:5 says “the dead know nothing, and have no further reward”.

Ecclesiastes 9:6 states “Also their love, their hatred, and their envy have now perished; Nevermore will they have a share In anything done under the sun.”

Ecclesiastes 9:10 “Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with your might; for there is no work or device or knowledge or wisdom in the grave where you are going.”

Matthew 25:46 states the unsaved go into “everlasting punishment”.

Psalms 115:17 “The dead praise not the Lord.”

In addition to all that, we also have Paul’s argument to the Corinthian people asking why they’re baptizing dead people when they didn’t believe in the resurrection!

These are all great witnessing tools to use so be sure to employ them, but most importantly, pray they receive them as well!

1 Corinthians 15:29; “Else what shall they do which are baptized for the dead, if the dead rise not at all? why are they then baptized for the dead?”

With Love in Christ;
