Interesting Facts about the Triple Combination 1

INTERESTING FACTS ABOUT THE TRIPLE COMBINATION (3-IN-1)

Introductory page of the Book of Mormon says; ‘Jesus is the Christ, the Eternal God’.  The LDS Church does not believe in the Trinity.  In the book Articles of Faith, pg, 40-1, it states; ‘Unity of the Godhead….this cannot rationally be construed to mean that the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost are one in substance and in person, nor that the names represent the same individual under different aspects.

There are two more items of interest just in this one sentence on their introductory page.  1-What is the meaning of eternal?  2-They only believe that Jesus has earned the right to become a god because of his good works here on earth.  This statement does not mean that Jesus is our God, just that he is a god.

2 Nephi 9:9 describes Satan.  ‘…yea, to that being that who beguiled our first parents, who transformeth himself into an angel of light, and stirreth up the children of men unto secret combinations of murder and all manner of secret works of darkness’.

Introductory page of Doctrine & Covenants describes Moroni.  ‘This took place in the early spring of 1820.  In September 1823, and at later times, Joseph Smith received visitations from Moroni, an angel of light, who revealed the resting place of the ancient record from which the Book of Mormon was afterward translated’.

In Joseph Smith’s Testimony, Smith relates an evening that was full of visitations from this angel Moroni.  This is what Smith says transpired from Moroni’s three visits that evening.  Joseph Smith’s Testimony 2:47;

 ‘After this third visit, he again ascended into heaven as before, and I was again left to ponder on the strangeness of what I had just experienced when almost immediately after the heavenly messenger had ascended from me for the third time, the cock crowed, and I found that day was approaching so that our interviews must have occupied the whole of that night’.

 Now let’s compare that with what Jesus said to Peter in Matthew 26:31-4; ‘Then saith Jesus unto them, All ye shall be offended because of me this night: for it is written, I will smite the shepherd, and the sheep of the flock shall be scattered abroad.  But after I am risen again, I will go before you into Galilee.  Peter answered and said unto him, Though all men shall be offended because of thee, yet will I never be offended.  Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, That this night, before the cock crow, thou shalt deny me thrice.’

D&C 7:1-8 says that the apostles James, Peter and John never died.

James was the first apostle that died as a martyr.  He was beheaded in Jerusalem.

John died peacefully near or in Ephesus circa 100 AD.

Peter died in Rome in 67 AD.  He refused to be crucified in the same position as Jesus so they hung him upside down.

Another thing to think about in regard to this subject.  If they never died, then why was there a great apostasy and why was the earth in need of a restoration that Smith claimed?

The term ‘mother earth’ is used in 2 Nephi 9:7.  This is what the Wiccans call the earth they worship.

Christ’s crucifixion was for all of man’s sins.  3 Nephi 11:11; D&C 21:9; D&C 35:2.  Mormons do not believe this.  They believe that you cannot be saved if you’re a murderer;

D&C 42:79; ‘And it shall come to pass, that if any persons among you shall kill they shall be delivered up and dealt with according to the laws of the land; for remember that he hath no forgiveness; and it shall be proved according to the laws of the land.’

an apostate of the church;

D&C 85:11; ‘And they who are of the High Priesthood, whose names are not found written in the book of the law, or that are found to have apostatized, or to have been cut off from the church, as well as the lesser priesthood, or the members, in that day shall not find an in heritance among the saints of the Most High.’

or if you’ve blasphemed the Holy Ghost;

D&C 132:27; ‘The blasphemy against the Holy Ghost, which shall not be forgiven in the world nor out of the world, is in that ye commit murder wherein ye shed innocent blood, and assent unto my death after ye have received my new and everlasting covenant, saith the Lord God; and he that abideth not this law can in nowise enter into my glory, but shall be damned, saith the Lord’.

These ‘rules’ they have set up are both contradictory to both their own statements and to what the Bible says about forgiveness.  If a murderer is not forgiven, then what about King David, the apostle Paul or the myriads of others in the Bible that killed and found forgiveness?  The only thing the Bible says about non-forgiveness is the subject of blasphemy against the Holy Spirit.

Mark 3:29; ‘But he that blaspheme against the Holy Ghost hath never forgiveness, but is in danger of eternal damnation’.

Jesus was slain for our sins.  3 Nephi 11:14.

In the Mormon pamphlet What the Mormons Think of Christ, pg.22 it says; ‘Christians speak often of the blood of Christ and its cleansing power.  Much that is believed and taught on this subject, however, is such utter nonsense and so palpably false that to believe it is to lose one’s salvation.  For instance, many believe or pretend to believe that if we confess Christ with our lips and avow that we accept him as our personal savior, we are thereby saved.  They say that his blood without any other act than mere belief makes us clean.

     What is the true doctrine of the blood of Christ?  Salvation comes because of the atonement, and the atonement was wrought through the shedding of the blood of Christ.  In Gethsemane Christ sweat great drops of blood from every power when he conditionally took upon himself the sins of the world, and then the shedding of his blood was complete upon the cross’.

As you can see, the sacrifice was made not on the cross but in the Garden of Gethsemane according to the Mormon, in addition the sacrifice He made was conditional.

The Spirit (Holy Spirit) says to be born again.  Alma 7:14.

The Bible never says that the Holy Spirit told us to be born again!  Jesus and the authors of the New Testament told us this, but never the Holy Spirit.

Ether 3:13 says that man must be redeemed from the fall.

The 2nd Article of Faith in Mormonism says; ‘We believe that men will be punished for their own sins, and not for Adam’s transgressions.’

Holy Spirit praises God.  1 Nephi 11:6.

The only way this could be possible is if the Holy Spirit wasn’t God.  Since the Mormons don’t believe in the Trinity this could make sense, however let’s see what the Mormon thinks about the Holy Ghost and see if it makes sense then;

Articles of Faith, pg. 159 says; ‘The Holy Ghost is associated with the Father and the Son in the Godhead.  In the light of revelation, we are instructed as to the distinct personality of the Holy Ghost.  He is a being endowed with the attributes and powers of Deity, and not a mere force or essence’.

Now in light of their ‘revelation’ about the Holy Ghost it still doesn’t make sense that God would be praising himself if the Holy Ghost is endowed with his attributes!  This would mean that they worship a prideful God.

Lehi ate raw meat.  1 Nephi 17:2; 17:12.

The Bible is very clear about not doing this.  Exodus 12:9; ‘Eat not of it raw, nor sodden at all with water, but roast with fire; his head with his legs and with the purtenance thereof.’

Satan is preparator of hell.  1 Nephi 15:35.

Satan did not create hell, God did for a place to put Satan.

The words ‘I considered’ used in Jacob 1:2 is not inspired from God.

2 Peter 1:20 says; ‘Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation’.

1 Nephi 2:8 says that the river Laman empties into the Red Sea.

There has never been a river that empties into the Red Sea.

Michael the archangel is said to be Adam.  D&C 27:11.

There isn’t one single verse in all of the Bible that remotely suggests such a thing.

Children can’t sin according to D&C 29:46-7.

Articles of Faith, pg 57 says this about the nature of sin; ‘What is the nature of sin?  To this question the Apostle John replies: “Sin is the transgression of the law”…As God is the embodiment of perfection, such opposition is rebellion against the principles of advancement and adherence to the practices that lead to degradation.  Sin is any condition, whether omission or things required or in commission of acts forbidden, that tends to prevent or hinder the development of the human soul.’

Once again they contradict themselves and the Bible.  Romans 3:23 says that all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.  Besides all that, I dare anyone to find a toddler that hasn’t had a temper tantrum.

D&C 39:4 says that we are sons of Jesus.

If you read D&C 25:1 it says; ‘Hearken unto the voice of the Lord your God, while I speak unto you, Emma Smith, my daughter; for  verily I say unto you, all those who receive my gospel are sons and daughter in my kingdom’.

How can we be both the sons of Jesus and God?  And what about what it says in D&C 76:24; ‘That by him, and through him, and of him, the worlds are and were created, and the inhabitants thereof are begotten sons and daughters unto God’.

I suggest that a word study is in order for the word begotten and then a study on how to become an adopted son or daughter unto God.

The French word ‘adieu’ is used at the end of the book of Jacob.

This time frame is inconsistent with when French became a language circa 700 AD.  The end of the book of Jacob says that it was between 544 and 421 BC.  How did Joseph translate this into a French word that didn’t exist?
