1 Week, 3 LDS Statements, and Ø Truths = Total Confusion

18 August

The middle of August 2017 has proven to be a busy one for the LDS Church. They released three official statements on two topics, each with a track record of raising eyebrows because of church policy.

The odd thing about all of their statements is how none provided a picture of true Mormonism. At times it seems with each new lie they tell my heart grieves like never before. I so want them to know the Jesus I met in the Bible.

From the top of their self-imposed pyramid, on down to the everyday member like my mother, I pray they’ll want to truly know Him. Without any question, we’re also praying members will see what’s going on inside of Mormonism. I know this can happen – I’m living proof, as are millions of other ex-Mormons who now call on the One True God! 2 Chronicles 7:14 –

“If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.”

The Church’s first statement came as an unsolicited response to the events in Charlottesville, Virginia, and was released within hours of the tragedy. It was followed by another statement two days later, refuting rumors they’ve remained neutral in supporting white supremacist groups. To read those statements in full, see Church Issues Statement on Situation in Charlottesville, Virginia.

The Church’s third statement was released on August 16, 2017 when they offered support for an upcoming concert in Salt Lake later this month (August 26th), which is supporting the LGBTQ community.

The problem with all three statements is how the Church has handled the two topics. While they aren’t members of the KKK, or any other white supremacy group, the narrative of their canon, coupled with remarks from past leaders, would make it seem otherwise.

Moreover, their past regarding the other topic is just as bad when they came out with a new church policy in 2015 banning kids of gay couples from membership. First Presidency Clarifies Church Handbook Changes.

So where exactly does the Church stand on these things? From the official statements coming out of Salt Lake, one would be hard pressed to pinpoint what they really believe.

To date, they haven’t denounced either of the beliefs mentioned here which is nothing more than passive-aggressive behavior. Proof of this is seen in the quote by Gordon B. Hinckley they’ve used for more than a decade now.

“No man who makes disparaging remarks concerning those of another race can consider himself a true disciple of Christ. Nor can he consider himself to be in harmony with the teachings of the Church of Christ.” – Ensign, ‘The Need for Greater Kindness,’ April 2006. Gordon B. Hinckley

If they agree with his statement, why does their canon still exhibit racist beliefs?

Journal of Discourses 7:291; “You see some classes of the human family that are black, uncouth, uncomely, disagreeable and low in their habits, wild, and seemingly deprived of nearly all the blessings of the intelligence that is generally bestowed upon mankind. The first man that committed the odious crime of killing one of his brethren will be cursed the longest of any one of the children of Adam…the Lord put a mark upon him, which is the flat nose and black skin…” – Brigham Young, Salt Lake City, October 9, 1859

                                                                                                                                                      Moses 7:22; “And Enoch also beheld the residue of the people which were the sons of Adam; and they were a mixture of all the seed of Adam save it was the seed of Cain, for the seed of Cain were black, and had not place among them.”

As Ed Decker mentioned in an article for our site, these ungodly doctrines are but a millstone around the necks of the Mormon people. Pray for Jesus to break these horrific bonds that keep the Mormon people chained to the lies of Mormonism!

With Love in Christ;

Michelle
